All major components of the OPC's NESDIS, FNMOC, AFWA, NCEP, NAVO represented

AF/14WS, JCSDA, NWS TOC, NDBC, NCDC, NOAA/ONR, FAA, OFCM

Divided into two separate sub-groups (Conventional data and Satellite data)

Monthly teleconferences held last six months w/sub-group interim meetings

2008-5.5-S - Inclusion of the new Air Force requirement for satellite data in the Alaska region into the ESDA. Status: AFWA Dennis Hobson investigating, validating PACAF requirements

2008-5.6-S - Environmental Satellite Data Annex (ESDA) Status: Final draft completed, submitted to CSAB for legal/funding authority review October 2008

2008-5.9-S b. ESDA CONOPS (TR-1) Development. Status: First draft completed, undergoing agency (center) review and comment

2008-4.1-S Transition of EOS data from Goddard (R&D) to NESDIS (Ops). Status: NESDIS turning on data feeds.

2008-5.2-S NCEP JAG/ODAA Member to address Satellite Data issues. A satellite data representative is needed to address satellite data issues for NCEP. Status: Raised to WG/CSAB for assistance.

2008-7.1 JCSDA participation in JAG/ODAA. Status: Raised to WG/CSAB for assistance. Update: JCSDA representative attended 10.22.08 meeting, reviewing ESDA text for JCSDA inclusion.

2007-3.2-C NWS will provide a list of all BUFR bulletins that describes the type of data. Status: NWS TOC, working to resolve, also relates to WG/Met Codes action item.

Climate Data Annex Initiative Status: Held initial discussions with 14th WS and NCDC to review proposal, determine next steps

ODAA Support for COPC Action Items

COPC Action Item 2008-1.1: NESDIS Critical infrastructure protection in the Environmental Satellite Processing Center (ESPC). Status: Working with each OPC to configure alternate data routing - Testing scheduled for last week in October

COPC Action Item 2008-1.3,4,5: Form an interagency working team to examine gaps in skill level. Status: Team formed, email and background information provided.

COPC Action Item 2008-1.7: CSAB/COPC principals request information on the results of the NPOESS Anomaly Data Resolution Study (DQM issue). Status: Briefed separately.

COPC Action Item 2007-2.10: The JAG ODAA will work with the appropriate NPP personnel to plan for a pre-launch evaluation of NPP data. Status: Test data provided via NPOESS UC/NCF

DAPE Gateway Server

DAPEGATEWAY machine used to pull and push NESDIS acquired satellite files

Machines are 5+ years old, need to purchase increased technology servers

Need to test the DAPE scripts that call ftp on the DAPEGATEWAY machine with FNMOC, NAVO, and AFWA either with http and wget or sftp to address IA issues.

NESDIS conducted NOAA Polar Satellite Commanding Meeting - October 2008

Users DOD and DOC needs and requirements understood

Multiple orbit acquisition and latency issues discussed

Sample NPP Data Availability (AI 2007-2.10, 11)

Sample CDs sent to each OPC early 2008 via UC/NCF Additional sample data releases coordinated with IDPS SW release builds 1.5 and 1.6 - Expect spring 2009 via UC/NCF NASA Goddard mini-IDPS provided sample data via canned vacuum test data which contained 14 subsets or orbital data. Centrals participate in numerous working groups within the NPOESS program such as Data Formats, External Interfaces, System Test, Facilities, and Security. There are always design reviews that are taking place with the various NDE working group initiatives. Centrals attended recent meeting in Omaha (UC/NCF). The program is going to make many useful tools available including match-up verification, quality tools, encoders, and decoders .
