Year 3Mind [The] Gap

The project seeked to create places and environments to stimulate groundbreaking and radical thinking by ‘researchers’. The programme speculated that these spaces might actually best be located alongside, or perhaps in the heard of linked public provision.

The writing spaces’ arrangement, flexibility & quality of light were critical to their functioning effectively

Year 3Timber Tectonics Project

Project to design a temporary pavilion within Jesmond Dene, Newcastle. The pavilion had to accommodate a gallery space for displaying artwork and performance space for an outdoor theatre company.

Cluster of ‘gallery pods’. The functions of the single ‘pavilion’ were instead split into several spaces on site

The ‘picnic pod’ acts as a bandstand style gathering place with 360o open sided views and a wicker roof above

The structure of the pods was fully resolved as part of the project and the 1:20 & 1:2 models demonstrate this

Year 2Sculpture Park

You have been commissioned by Newcastle City Council to locate and design a Sculpture Park to display a collection of artworks donated to the council by a wealthy benefactor. The Council’s preferred site is on Hunter’s Moor in Spital Tongues.
