Girl’s Basketball

The Lady Jackrabbits had an amazing season going 27 –5 and making it down to

the final four where they were defeated by Seton Catholic in the Semi-Finals. This

is the first time the Lady Jackrabbits have made it this far since 1987. We are

proud of them! We are looking forward to next season. Great job Coach Landis

and the girl’s basketball team!

A Message from the Student Advisors:

Senior Resource Day was a great success! Our seniors

were able to participate in 2 sessions each. They chose

from: an MCC application workshop, a college/career/military

fair, a resume and interview tips session, a scholarship ses-

sion, and a FAFSA session. Overall feedback was very posi-

tive with an overwhelming response that the event was very

helpful. We look forward to continuing this tradition, taking

into account feedback that some of the sessions would've

been even more beneficial if they had been offered first se-

mester. We appreciate your support and ask that you contin-

ue to encourage your child to complete the applications they

started on this day.

College 101 and Community Information Night was also a

great success! We had standing room only in the media cen-

ter as parents and students worked on their FAFSA and re-

ceived help from Financial Aid representatives. We noticed

that a large number of students also connected with commu-

nity agencies that they met during Senior Resource Day, fol-

lowing up with what they learned the week prior. We are al-

ready looking for larger facilities for next year as we hope to

increase the number of families taking the next steps towards

college!

It’s hard to believe that nearly four years have passed since the class of 2016 first became

Jackrabbits. Graduation is right around the corner and will be here before we know it. This is

an exciting, yet hectic time of year for students, staff and parents. Below, you will find some

suggestions that will help us all navigate through this final stretch and make graduation evening

night to be remembered!

Students: Don’t let senioritis endanger your final quarter.

Attend classes daily, complete and turn in all assignments

Check your grades frequently

Communicate with your teachers!

Parents:

Read all correspondence from the school – we send out a lot of information this time of year!

Senior Deficiency Letters

Graduation ceremony and rehearsal information

Senior recognition events

Check your child’s grades through the Parent/Student Portal regularly. If you do not have

access to your student’s portal, please contact our attendance department and they will

help you set up access.

Communicate with your child’s teachers if you have questions or concerns

If your child is enrolled in a MDLP online class, check his/her progress and make sure s/he

is completing the class. Students who are taking classes through MDLP must complete

those classes PRIOR to the end of the semester, so pay attention to those due dates!

Graduation Rehearsal – Thursday, May 26 @ 6:30 AM. Students MUST be in attendance at graduation rehearsal if

they want to participate in the graduation ceremony that evening!

Graduation – Thursday May 26 @ 7:00 PM at Jackrabbit Stadium

Parking on campus is limited:

Please carpool as much as possible and follow the directions of security, police and ROTC students who are direct-

ing traffic.

Overflow parking is available at the old driving range on the north side of the campus.

Seating is limited:

- There is open seating on both sides of the stadium. Arrive early to ensure you can park and be seated prior to our

7:00 pm start time.

- Jackrabbit Stadium will be at capacity for the commencement ceremony. For this reason, we will not allow guests

to bring any items that may distract from others’ enjoyment of the ceremony.

- Balloons, signs, coolers, large bags or other items that may impact seating or visibility will NOT be allowed.

- Air horns, fireworks, cow bells, and all other noisemakers are also prohibited so that ALL parents and family

members may enjoy the ceremony and experience the sound of their child’s name being read.

- Accessible seating is available for those with physical limitations (limit 4 per family). Call Barbara Escamilla at 480-

472-5905 after March 15 to request special seating.

YEARBOOK UPDATE:

The yearbook staff, GV30 Digital Publication Studio, is

hard at work putting the finishing touches on the yearbook

and wrapping up with Spring Sports. The inclusion of Au-

rasma videos will be our focus for the last quarter. It will

be truly amazing to have an interactive yearbook that in-

cludes video of your favorite sports clips, assemblies, pep

rallies, musical performances and more. Don’t miss out

on your opportunity to own this one of a kind keepsake.

You can still purchase a copy in the bookstore for a re-

markably low price of only $69 if you purchase prior to

Spring Break.

In addition to getting the 2016 book at only $69, you can

purchase a copy of the 2015, 2014 or 2013 book for only

$30. That is less than ½ off the retail price while supplies

last.

PARENTS OF SENIORS:

Parents of seniors, the deadline has passed to turn in a

senior ad, but we have a couple sports still open. If you

purchase your senior ad in the bookstore by March 4th,

you might be able to secure one of the remaining spots to

give your child a shout out congrats. More information on

senior ads is available at http://www.mpsaz.org/mesa/

staff/tctapia/gv31/ybpurchase

YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION:

Yearbooks will be distributed during lunch on Thursday,

May 12th, to students that pre-ordered and who do not

hold outstanding bookstore debt or overdue library books.

Overprints will be sold for $89 starting on Friday, May 13th

in the bookstore.

Cheer Tryouts

Varsity and JV cheerleading tryouts will be March

28-31 from 5-7 pm. Students interested need to

pick up a tryout packet from Coach Landis in girls

PE.
