It’s hard to imagine the grandiosity of the Middle East withoutseeing it for yourself, and certainly for those clients who have hadthis destination on the bucket list for awhile, pleasingly thegeneral word in the industry is that Egypt is now starting to attractvisitors back in numbers again. Egypt experts Bunnik Tours havelong been passionate about this magnificent region with over 10-years’ of running tours to this area. They were instrumental inevacuating clients from Cairo during the uprisings in 2011. At thefirst sign of trouble in Egypt – which pre-revolution accounted for40 per cent of the company’s business – Bunnik had someone onthe ground. Being a family company, the emphasis was on doingthe right thing by their clients rather than protecting short-termresults of the company. They now report a resurgence of interestin this destination and pleasingly there is such positive feedbackfrom Egypt and Middle East tours, that the number one of themost regular thing their customers are saying is “how safe theyhave felt.”After years of hard work and commitment to Egypt and the MiddleEast, Bunnik Tours report they are excited to now see it rise inpopularity for tourists and suggest now is the perfect time to visit, before the tourist crowds re-peak to pre revolution levels. Exploring Egypt and the Middle East in a small group tour iswithout a doubt the best way to explore this incredible region. With Bunnik Tours, everything including flights is organised inone package, so you can relax and know you are in great hands.Proving to be popular this season, is Bunnik Tours’ Egypt &Jordan in Depth small group tour. Pioneers of the small grouptouring concept, Bunnik has a maximum group size of just 20passengers in the Middle East.

DESTINATION: EGYPT – Magical Middle East is back!In May I was fortunate enough to be selected to travel withAustralia's Northwest Tourism to experience Broome and theWest Kimberley region.

Once our direct flight from Melbourne arrived in Broome it wasstraight into a highlights tour of Broome & Cable Beach. Wewere very lucky with timing that we were in Broome for theStaircase to the Moon, a natural phenomenon which occurswhen a full moon rises over the exposed tidal flats of RoebuckBay, although due to low cloud it was a big non event for ourgroup!

The following morning was spent on the water enjoying thebeautiful sunshine whilst spotting wildlife, snub nose dolphins, dugongs and birdlife. No trip to Broome is complete without avisit to the Willie Creek Pearl Farm, which is where we spent ourafternoon. Here we learnt about the processes and farming of apearl and all now have a great understanding as to why pearlsare so expensive.

We had an early start due to distance travelling on the Gibb RiverRoad. Our first stop was an Aboriginal Cultural Centre where welistened to their tales of the aboriginal dreamtime, beforeheading to the beautiful Windjana Gorge where we had a nicewalk into the gorge and enjoyed a lovely relaxing picnic lunch. Our next stop was Tunnel Creek, which I was dreading as I readthat I had to wade through knee deep water that was home tofreshwater crocodiles and pythons!! To my surprise this was oneof my highlights for my 2 day adventure trip! The evening wasspent at Fitzroy River Lodge where we visited the local pub fora meal and mingled with the local people. Next morning was anearly start heading to Geike Gorge for a morning cruise, and toadmire the more of the stunning scenery the Kimberley’s have tooffer. Heading back in the direction of Broome, we stopped atYeerda station for lunch and a tour. This is a really authenticcountry experience that I think people from Gippsland wouldreally enjoy and find quite interesting. They incorporate lunchwith a station tour to understand what happens on a real

working cattle station in the Kimberly.

On arrival back in Broome from this fabulous 2 day tour, wespent the evening watching the camels and sunset on thefamous cable beach with a drink in hand. Instyle Adventure is agreat way to travel the Kimberley region as they are a smallgroup tour company with a maximum group size of 4. They area great option for everyone as every itinerary can be modifiedfor your personal preference, interests and mobilityrequirements.

THE KIMBERLEY Jen Morris

In May I travelled to Sri Lanka with InterAsia to explore and seethe highlights of what their country has to offer on a 7 day jampacked itinerary featuring some of the best things to do and seewhilst in the pearl of the Indian Ocean.

Whilst on this trip I was able to experience a Jeep ride throughthe Minneriya National Park spotting and getting up close withmany wild Elephants, Buffalo & different types of birds, this wasdefinitely the highlight of my trip.

Other highlights included taking a scenic train journey upthrough the tea plantations to the higher/ cooler part of SriLanka, almost conquering the ancient rock that is Sigiriya &visiting sacred temples that are still being used for religiousoccasions.

From West to East coast and back down South we covered atleast half of the small country using buses & trains as a mode oftransport.

To travel around Sri Lanka I would highly recommend joining atour group or having your own guide and driver as they willhave the insight knowledge and know the ins out outs of whereto go and what to see as well as speaking the local language.

When first thinking of visiting Sri Lanka I wasn't sure what itwould be like as a tourist destination but I could not speak morehighly of the friendly staff & people, guides & drivers we hadthroughout our entire trip.

Whether it be spending some time lapping up the sun on one of Sri Lanka's amazing beaches, getting your adventure on with a Jeep Safari tour through one of many National parks orexploring temples and cultural sights, or experiencing a mealwith a local family Sri Lanka has something that will interestalmost everyone.
