This year, in a

pioneering effort to

break social barriers, the students have decided

to start a state-wide LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay,

Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex)

Rights Campaign. Sohini and Safina recruited

25 peer educators from Class 9-11 to help create awareness and sensi-

tivity about this community.

This year, two socially minded students

from Class 8, Samarth Parmar and Satya

Dewan, launched the Tagorean Awareness

Society (TAS) for Class 6-8. They are sup-

ported by their Peer Mentor Sakshi Gupta

(Class 11) and Faculty Mentor Anju Ma’am.

The society has two goals: to promote

cleanliness and to support an orphanage.

Cleanliness: TAS has instated the ‘Cleanest Classroom Award’ for

the middle school.

Orphanage: TAS has chosen to work with the Earth Saviour’s

Foundation in Vasant Kunj. They will visit the orphanage once a

month, conduct activities for the children, help them with their

homework and donate books and eatables. Next visit is scheduled

on Saturday, 16 Nov 2013.
