INTRODUCTIONIt is corpletely tnre that the Izqn languago has suffer,edtaibly frrorn the hands of those living in the presentgaeration-specially the youths, who pursue westei:r valuesal the exp€nse of theirs which has producd some ill-oonqu€naes. Sequel to the above, the vocabulary is graduallydying. Many p;u,ents can iot teach their children in their ownmother-tongue; ilutny youths regard it as a foreign languagernd have relegated il into a state of disuse.One of the greatest means of prbserving one's culture is toF€s€rve one's language. And one's language can hardly bepreserved if it is not usod in everyday conversation andwritten down. Thus to pr€s€rve the lzgn language has been achallenge before us all. Unless somc self-sacrificingeirthusiastic and patriotic prcple painstaingkinly respond toface this noble and natural challeirge, no on€ could predict thefate of the langu4ge tomonow.

Though very few have dared to face the challenge, Ithought it not unwise and most useful to contribute my quota

also which has come under the title nl-earn Your l-anguagen.In it, I cleated room for two classes of people to use:

the natives and foreigners- Heirce, there is a serious attemptmade to give the meaning of words which, to the natives whospeak it, may be repelitive or boring. A particular attentionhas be€n paid to the demands of foreigners.

Like some other languages in the world, when compared with the English

It is obscrvod that "c", nj" and oqn are respectively replaced by "sn, nzn

and'k' but "x" has no such replacemeirt; these lettdrs have no function to

play in tho language, henco they are all deleted.

It is argud by some people that nJn is not part of the alphabet as itis not on thi tongue of any typical Ijaw. It is replaced by 'zo , as "c" and

'q" arc rcplacd by'os' and nkn. Hence Jesus, James, John etc would in

poctioo * pronounced asTsu,Tnrnis and @ni respectively. Besides

ihcrc iS no traditional word which begins with the letter nJn- Personally, Iam of the same opinion with this school of thought'

Ther,e are some other persons whq hold the contrary, that it was part

of the alphabet. These argue that it was eveir used by some early workers

in thc language; and exanrples could be eveir found in some works.

Howcver this is not a work to settle this argumeirt. It is obvious that

Having learnt the alphabet, it is now time to apply them to fomr words.Before we proceed to forming words which is divided into sections, thereare some words which need to be mentioned first, and they arc t€atod insection 1 below; they are single-letter words.
