Hi, my name is Ismael Pacheco. I’m from San Jose, Costa Rica. Today, I’m going to try to explain you how the EQ could manipulate the timbre throughout the frequencies. We can explain that the Equalization is the process of adjusting the balance between frequency components within an electronic signal. The equalizer tends to strengthen (boost) or weaken (cut) the energy of specific frequency bands. On this example, you will notice how I can manipulate the timbre of the sound using a 3band EQ without affect its wave form but at the same time, giving it a different color. As you can see, on this video I decide to use a square wave form. What I’m going to do right now, is modifying the timbre using the low freqs knobs, but also changing the high freqs knobs. On this moment, had seen how the low and high freqs altered the sound by itself, I’m going to bypass them and

  • Hi, my name is Ismael Pacheco. Im from San Jose, Costa

    Rica.

Today, Im going to try to explain you how the EQ could

manipulate the timbre throughout the frequencies.

We can explain that the Equalization is the process of

adjusting the balance between frequency components

within an electronic signal. The equalizer tends to

strengthen (boost) or weaken (cut) the energy of specific

    frequency bands.

On this example, you will notice how I can manipulate the

timbre of the sound using a 3band EQ without affect its

wave form but at the same time, giving it a different color.

As you can see, on this video I decide to use a square wave

form. What Im going to do right now, is modifying the

timbre using the low freqs knobs, but also changing the high

    freqs knobs.

On this moment, had seen how the low and high freqs

altered the sound by itself, Im going to bypass them and

  • manipulate the mid-range frequencies, obtaining a whole

    different result.

Varying the perception of the humans ear on the same

sound, same waveform, just altering the frequencies.

With this, I want to show you that a good balance, a good

mix within the EQ can obtain different results and apply to

diverse genres, based on our ears and how we perceive

    them.

Something that I call, musical taste

At last, the most important on how we use the EQ,

wherever a live performance, an audio track, or like on this

example, a sound, is to transmit our very personal

perception of sound, since the frequencies are present each

    day of our lives.
