6th grade Science Assignments for Week 2 of Digital Learning/Paper Based

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I hope this finds you happy and well. I sure do miss seeing your face in class. Today we are moving to the Digestive and Excretory Systems. Below is a schedule for you that would average out to 60 min/day Monday-Friday. I have also attached Circulatory and Respiratory power point slides. Please tear these off and keep them.

Monday 4/6: Read the 3 texts called Digestive System, Digestion, and Parts of the Digestion System. Watch 4 of the videos from the list if you are able.

Tuesday 4/7: Read the 3 texts called Digestive Organs, Waste, and Keep it Healthy. Do the Assignment “Hamburger Journey”. This will be graded and put into grade book.

Wednesday 4/8: Find the Lab page called Starch and Spit Lab. Read about what an enzyme is and it’s role in digestion. Conduct the lab and do numbers 1 and 2. If you have Iodine, you can test for starch ( see 2nd lab page).

Thursday 4/9: Read the text about the Excretory System. Fill out the Excretory System Graphic Organizer (shows the organs).

Friday 4/10: Do the Assignment called Pizza Bite’s Journey. Be sure to draw a picture for each cell and label it. This is a graded assignment worth 20 points and will go into grade book.

Extra Credit: Digestion Choice Board- you can upload this or do this on paper and send it with your packet.
