30th Annual Children’s Christmas Party

The 30th Annual IUOE Local 963 Children’s Christmas Party on Saturday

December 9 was a huge success despite the last minute challenges the

Social Committee had to address as a result of a policy change adopted by VSB

senior staff. Thanks to all the volunteers and especially Santa, Brother Paul Loeman!

Harjit Khangura (and family), Tim Chester (and family), Paul Loeman,

Parm Malli (and family), Chad Stuart, Antoinette Cominetti (and grandchildren),

Medical and Dental Appointments

Clause 8 (N) of the IUOE/VSB 2014-2019 Collective Agreement

provides release time for medical and dental appointments, with the

approval of the Board. A memo from VSB Operations incorrectly

noted that these have to be “specialist” appointments. They do not

have to be specialist appointments.

VSB Retirement Seminar 2018

The VSB’s annual Retirement Seminar for Municipal

Pension Plan Members will be held on Thursday March 15,

2018 at the Education Centre. Employee Services will be

sending out invitations in February. Members wishing to

register earlier can do so by emailing

employeeservices@vsb.bc.ca

with a subject line “retirement seminar”.

T-4’s Available Electronically

An email to all employees from VSB Employee Services dated December 12, 2017 read “as soon as

the final pay is confirmed in December, Payroll begins the task of preparing T4’s, T4A’s and T2200.

PeopleSoft delivers an electronic T4 through employee self service.”

The email then reads, “Please provide your consent to choose electronic delivery versus printed. The

advantages to you are:

Receiving your T4 slip 2-3 weeks earlier than waiting for a printed copy to be delivered

Easily print yourself and save the envelope

Easily email to your tax preparer or upload to your tax return software

Available 24/7

T4’s available back to the year 2015 if you were employed by VSB.”

The target date for electronic T4’s is February 8, 2017. Finally, “if you wish to continue to receive a

printed copy from payroll then you will receive it on or before February 28, 2018, if you choose this

option.”
