SUMMARY
CONTINENTAL DEVELOPMENT MANAGER DEBRIEF
We are now in the second year of the quadrennial 2017-2020, second quarter.
The ITTF strategic plan has two very important points related to the increase of the number of participants and the increase of the quality of the players but also related to the increase the number and the quality of the coaches and any kind of officials.
The vision is Table Tennis for all. For life.
Latin America gets annually US$262,315 for the Development Agreement to develop all the activities and programs.
What was very positive during this second quadrennial is that most of the activities were not only allocated but also fixed related the dates, the cities and the experts that will run them. The International Umpire examination will finish on 31st of July and it will be important as we were organizing many refreshment courses with the examination, with the goal to get good results and increase the figures got in 2016.
The main goal, as every single year is to get done all activities at the end of the year.
This work is thanks to the ITTF and LATTU Presidents, the support of the ITTF CEO, HPD Director and Continental Development Manager, the support of all regions, the technical director, the LA URC chair, all national associations and all executive and administration members and staff from ITTF, LATTU and associations.
ITTF- Latin America Continental Development Manager Ramon ORTEGA MONTES

HIGHLIGHTS
In this second quarter, again, we have had 5 self-funded courses, what indicates the health of the program and the system in Latin America, keeping doing activities with the financial support of the National Associations. Another important point is that a new course conductor was running an ITTF-PTT L1 coaches course, what means that he is now in the list of course conductors. Congratulations to him, Miguel GONZALEZ from Venezuela.
“It´s important for me to run the first ever ITTF-PTT L1 course in my country, it was more difficult than expected while at the same time to see that the participants learn the concepts and technics, makes you feel very happy. Thank you very much to ITTF and Venezuela for letting me run the first course as course conductor”.
We have organized 7 activities from the ITTF-LATTU Development Agreement (2BU+2BR+2IU+1Regional Hopes) and 5 self-funded activities (3ITTF-PTTL1+1BU+1IU). We have done the training of an URC Expert, Yoanna RAMIREZ from Colombia, to be able to run URC courses in Latin America, as we were short of URC experts in the region.

Paraguay is every year organizing more international events, Regional, Latin American, Pan American or ITTF ones, so they need to have officials trained and prepared according to the level of the tournaments they are organizing. They have their own Table Tennis Venue, that they have built and this year they built another annex with space to put restaurant. Next projects are to put Air Condition and to built accommodation. We used this opportunity in which Freddy is running the course as a very well experienced course conductor to train Yoanna, the LA URC Chair, to be able to be course conductor. The next steps are to prepare these basic officials to be able to go well trained for the next levels of umpiring and refereeing.

It´s the first time that this expert runs a course. He was doing the Course Conductor Course last year in Venezuela. The manuals used were the remaining ones given to Venezuela last year to organize two self-funded courses, that were done, while due to the number of participants some were not used. Now we have 3 course conductors of coaches Level 1 in Venezuela (1 international and 2 national). All participants from Venezuela.
