ITSU aims to help achieve the goal set by the Government of India when it announced the year 2012 to be that of increasing the reach of routine immunizations. The Multi-Year Strategic Plan for Immunization, set by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, also aims to be implemented by ITSU.

ITSU works in all the states of India, ensuring that there is greater public awareness and increased receptivity to immunizations among both the rural and urban populace. It engages in increased social involvement through social media and community action.

The cMYP 2013-2017 was developed by ITSU to build a more comprehensive tracking framework to analyze the reach of the program. Through this, the quality and coverage of the program was further enhanced.ITSU conducted a Deep Dive exercise, under the aegis of the Vaccine Logistics and Cold Chain Management Unit. This study was conducted in three different states of India and helped to identify, analyze, and eliminate blockages in the vaccine supply chain and logistics. This data helped to make the supply chain process much faster in all the states of India.

Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network, or eVin, was designed to solve the challenges that were identified in the Deep Dive exercise. This was implemented in both the state and national levels. It has helped to shorten the duration of stock to just one day from the previous four days.

ITSU assessed and reviewed the solar vaccine refrigerators set up by the government and made recommendations to scale up and design more in the future.
