Nationwide no one cares for more children than the YMCA. At the Y, we believe all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Our programs provide an exciting, safe community for young people to explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories. They also help reinforce the YMCA’s four core values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.

The key to your child’s experience is our talented and dedicated staff team. Our staff is comprised of mature adults who are creative, energetic, and experienced with children. They are the key leadership and heart of our programs. They work very hard to help each child feel successful and to know they are cared about.

We hope that you give the staff at Straight Arrow Day Camp and Summer School Age Childcare the opportunity to share what we feel is a great experience with your child this summer. We look forward to meeting your child personally. If you have any questions, feel free to email us.

Back in 1969 the Treece family had dreams of children swimming, boating, sleeping under the stars, fi shing, riding horses, experiencing nature, and enjoying the outdoors. The Treece family graciously donated 40 beautiful acres to the Lafayette Family YMCA and it was named “Camp Treece.” The YMCA also had the same vision for children.

YMCA “Camp Treece” is the home of Straight Arrow Day Camp. Located just 15 miles southeast of Lafayette on 40 beautiful wooded acres along Wildcat Creek, this is the perfect location for a tremendous camp experience in a secure environment.

Straight Arrow Day Camp was started and those fi rst children left greatly enriched. They made memories, built lasting friendships, gained independence and self-confi dence. They left camp feeling good about themselves and thankful for the friends they made. For the past 43 years, Straight Arrow Day Camp has become a tradition that has given children the opportunity to make their own special memories.

The facilities and programs have changed over time, but our mission has remained the same. At the YMCA, character development and values are more than just buzz words, they are part of who we are. Straight Arrow Day Camp reinforces the values you teach at home. All programs and activities incorporate the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Welcome to Straight Arrow Day Camp

No Camper Left Behind“The No Camper Left Behind Scholarship Fund” is a financial assistance program established in honor of former Straight Arrow Director Harry Linback. Its purpose is to provide funding for those who may be unable to afford some or all of the cost to attend YMCA Straight Arrow Day Camp. Harry wanted every child to have a camp experience regardless of their financial situation.

Priority will be given to those campers who participate in the “Earn Your Way to Camp” cookie dough sale. Applications are available at the YMCA on sale kick off day and at the Y front desk. Application is not a guarantee of funding. Acceptance may be dependent on financial need. The Linback Family will be at the YMCA on Saturday, April 11 from 10am to Noon to answer any questions about No Camper Left Behind Scholarships.
