Here are a few ideas to help everyone with their success in 4-H:

Please remember that our leaders are volunteers and many are

very busy outside of 4-H. We would appreciate your understanding

of this as we start a very full summer.

If any questions come up, please contact the Nebraska

Extension Office at 632-1480. There are no dumb questions! It is

your responsibility to make sure deadlines are met, but we are here

to assist you in the process.

Upcoming Summer Workshops Register by calling 632-1480 or online at https://go.unl.edu/mez0.

The Art of Science

July 7th

The Science of Art workshop collides the power of science and the creativity of art to form the

ultimate day of fun. Your little scientist will learn how science experiments can create multiple art

projects. The topics will range from “Rainbow Roses” to “Gravity Paintings.” The workshop takes place on

July 7th at the Panhandle Research Center beginning at 10 a.m. and ending at noon. The workshop is

being put on by Nebraska Extension and is open to students between the ages of 3rd through 6th

grade. The total cost of the workshop will be $5 and can be paid for at the door.

Endangered Species July 12th The Endangered Species workshop will be an interactive way for children to learn about various species that are being threatened presently. Nebraska Extension will be partnering with the Riverside Zoo to give children a more visual experience. Students will learn new information about each species, the threats they face, a few things that make a species unique, and why each species is important to us. They will also learn simple introductory conservation practices that they can do at home or online to help a species from facing extinction. This workshop will possibly be held at the zoo; therefore, the kids will have time to interact and build a close relationship with the animals.

We are in need for volunteers to serve as static superintendents again this year. If you have filled this position in the past or are looking for another way to be involved with the county fair, please call our office by July 5th to let Kelley know you are willing to serve in this capacity.

Fairgrounds Clean up and Exhibitor Meeting

4-H members, families, and volunteers are asked to help clean up the fairgrounds on Thursday, July 21st

@ 6PM. We will be cleaning the livestock barn, pavilion, and Event Center for static exhibits. If everyone helps, the clean up and set up should not take more than an hour. An Exhibitor meeting will follow around 7pm in the Pavilion.

Attention Shooting Sports Members

If you have not passed the Hunter's Safety

Education course, you will need to complete a

Shooting Sports members must pass a Hunter's

Safety Education course OR complete a yearly

4-H Safety certification to be eligible to compete
