This characteristic is represented by the diversity of communities that live around it and by the numerous urban activities that happen in the area.

We genuinely believe that all these activities need to be integrated in order to achieve a more sustainable socioeconomic rebirth of Santurce.

Our project aspires to benefit both, the neighborhood (communities around Santurce) and CIUDADELA (the residents as well as the investors).

This proposal presents the park project that Putman Bridge is developing as a base and starting point to build up a whole urban concept, where CIUDADELA will generate a real community engagement project.
And we also think that CIUDADELA can become the epicentrum of this rebirth.

That is why we would like to research the very real picture of Santurce in a way that will lead us to integrate different stakeholders, aspects and actions under one community engagement strategy.
The main goal is to make CIUDADELA the heart of Santurce, not just as a static center plaza but rather a living culture point of reference.

LA VILLETTE PARISDemocratising culture and designing the park
The "Etablissement public du parc et de la Grande halle de la Villette" brings the concept of an urban culture park to life. With an increasingly strong commitment to help make culture accessible to all, the management company's actions are founded on the principles of openness and experimentation: no barriers, nor borders, nor closure at sunset, modularity of the programmable spaces, a multidisciplinary cultural offering, a wide range of artistic practices, programmes aimed at and catering for a wide variety of different audiences.

Assist Putnam Bridge to get the social license to develop Parque San Mateo and other future endeavors in Santurce and Puerto Rico through a community engagement project.
Help Putnam Bridge to sell and rent their residential and commercial properties in CIUDADELA creating added value experiences in Parque San Mateo (in coordination and complementing marketing efforts).

Strengthen the traffic to CIUDADELA (We want to live/work/invest here!! feeling).
Promote new alliances with different sectors in San Juan and Puerto Rico in order to make CIUDADELA/ Parque San Mateo and Putnam Bridge the main players of Santurces socioeconomic rebirth.

Phases of our Proposal
PHASE 1: Research and Mapping
Goal: To portray the very real picture of Santurce in a way that will lead us to integrate different stakeholders, aspects and actions such as social participation, cultural activation, design, urban design, Internet, social networking, among others, under one community engagement strategy.

PHASE 2: Service Design and Sharing
Goal: To conceptualize the community engagement project and the necessary added value experiences, including the cultural activation program for Parque San Mateo, based on the findings of our research.
Project Management and EvaluationGoal: To implement, coordinate, supervise and evaluate all of the above. Assure the continuity of all programs after the park is built.
The community engagement project can include, for example, the physical design and the cultural activation program of Parque San Mateo, and a creative marketplace in CIUDADELA.
Concept: Parque San Mateo was made by the Community and for the Community of Santurce. We, the Community, are welcomed to CIUDADELA.

This will be HISTORIC!!
Only few projects in Puerto Rico have been develop based on consensus and trust.
Through the community engagement project, CIUDADELA and Parque San Mateo can become landmarks of these kinds of efforts.
