Feedback on developed conceptsFollowing the Skype meeting on thursday we have evaluated the two selected concepts developed by the Itchi design team.

Feedback on developed conceptsThe Itchi design team evaluated the developed concepts and presented two designs to the client. These were the Sharing lunch box and the Sharing charm bracelet.

Sharing Lunch boxThe concept is evaluated against the criteria layer out it the brief as well as considering the scope for prototype manufacture

1 FeedbackPositives: Their is a strong sharing element to this concept. Their is a nice interaction with the parents giving their child something to take to share each day. Lunch time is a nice point in the day for children to interact. This is potentially a strong consumable product that would well in the stores we would be targeting. !Negatives: It would be important that the lunch box has a clear divide between the part of the child’s lunch and which part is for sharing. We feel that there is a possibility that the child may end up not being able to eat their own balanced lunch. !Possible design direction: This project would be suitable to prototype in the loughborough design school. As discussed we fell that their is a nice opportunity to have a detachable section that could form a separate sharing segment on the table.

Sharing Charm BrandThe concept is evaluated against the criteria layer out it the brief as well as considering the scope for prototype manufacture

FeedbackPositives:This design has progressed well since the idea was first suggested. Their is a strong link to the set design brief and folklore. The charm bracelet is traditionally at item worn by girls however by changing it into a band it fits in well with both boys and girls. With a simple clip system for the charms to attach to the band, there could be massive scope for different types of charms. !Negatives: Small parts are usually easy to lose and potentially dangerous for children. The band may be bulky in order to incorporate the charms so it would need to be comfortable to wear. !Possible design direction: This project would be suitable to prototype in the loughborough design school. The band needs an extra incentive to encourage chidden to share the charms, if the band had an extra function that would happen when the charms were shared.

Chosen Design The concept chosen for technical development is the sharing charm band. We felt this fulfils the brief well and has great potential to develop into a viable product to be used and enjoyed by children.

Chosen Design : Key specs for developmentThe concept chosen for technical development is the sharing charm band. We felt this fulfils the brief well and has great potential to develop into a viable product to be used and enjoyed by children.

Key things to consider….!!In order to take this design forward to the technical drawing stage, there are some element we fell need to be addressed. !• Extra element to the sharing of charms: the child needs an extra

incentive/reward when swapping charms • Ensure that the band is appealable to both boys and girls,

demonstrate with a number of alternative charms. • The band must be easy to put on so their needs to be careful

consideration of the clasp. • The Clip in system for the charms needs to be effective to reduce

the possibility that the charms will fall off and get lost. • Idea on how the back on the band will light up

Next StepThe next stage in the development of the chosen concept.

Next step….!!• Final design sheet with full explanation on bands features. • We would expect to see at lease 5 charms for the next stage so to

see the concept well demonstrated. • Agree all features of the design. • Discuss prototyping options. !!
