Port of Venice: An Overview

Of all the cities in the world, only Paris comes remotely close to matching Venice in terms of sheer beauty and

romance. You've seen it in photos and films, but there's no substitute for the reality -- the shimmering Grand

Canal, the gondolas slipping down watery alleyways, the elegant palazzos emerging straight from the sea.

Venice once ruled the Mediterranean as a shipping power, amassing vast wealth and producing some of Europe's

greatest artistic and cultural treasures. But, over the centuries, Venice has declined a bit and now has less than

half the population it had at its peak. What remains of its former grandeur -- the crumbling palaces, the

sumptuous art in its museums and churches, the fantastic rituals of Carnevale -- makes Venice a living tribute to

the past.

Aside from a number of charming squares, such as the famous Piazza San Marco, Venice is mostly composed of a

warren of narrow canals and streets spread over more than 100 islands. These tangled passageways are an

attraction among themselves. There are few better cities to simply get lost in, particularly if you want to escape

the tourist hordes that clog the main arteries around San Marco and the Rialto Bridge.

So once you've seen the major sights, fold up your map, and set off on foot. You'll discover pretty, residential

neighborhoods with colorful flowerboxes in the windows and clean laundry billowing in the breeze. You'll discover

tiny trattorias where the locals enjoy the catch of the day. And, away from the vaporetti (water taxis) and

motorboat traffic on the Grand Canal, you'll discover one more pleasure of this place, aptly dubbed La

Bari Cruise Port

Port of Bari: An Overview

Bari, which lies in the Puglia, or Apulia, region of southern Italy (around the heel of the country's "boot" shape)

is the kind of port cruise passengers dream about. It boasts a delightfully sunny, palm-lined promenade and broad boulevards with designer shops and top-quality restaurants. Port of Santorini

You can’t say you have been to Greece on holiday without seeing the natural wonder of Santorini. As our MSC cruise ship maneuvers into the great caldera of Santorini (Thira), the land seems to rise up and clamp around it. Gaunt, sheer cliffs loom hundreds of meters above the deep blue sea, nothing grows or grazes to soften the awesome view. Port of Chania

Chania city and seaport in Greece is located in northwestern Crete. It is the second largest city on Crete and considered among the most picturesque in Greece. It is built around an old Venetian Port and Castle and extends to a new part which boast parks and wide streets. The old town is centered around the harbor, it is a maze of alleys and houses that have been standing for many hundred years.

Chania may be the best city in Greece. With a long history, a spectacular old city that surrounds the Venetian harbor, and located in the best part of Crete for daytrips to beautiful beaches, the famous gorges and scenic mountain villages, Chania is the place I recommend staying for anyone who is including Crete in their itinerary

of Greece.

Port of Argostoli/Kefalonia

Argostoli port is the port of call of Argostoli city on Kefalonia Island in Greece. The city is well known for its cultural heritage and has a number of historical monuments from Greek, Venetian, Roman and Byzantine era. Due to its strategic importance, Argostoli was subjected to heavy bombing during World War II, and what was left after that was ravaged by the earthquake in 1953.

Kefalonia, on which the city is situated, is the largest of the Ionian Islands in western Greece. Together with Argostoli, settlements of Lassi, Helmata, Spilia, Minies and Kompothekrata and ten other communities form the Municipality of Argostoli. Though it is comparatively small, port of Argostoli is one of the busiest trade and cruise ports of Greece. Tourists alighting at Argostoli cruise terminal can explore caves, blue sea, sandy beaches, rocky mountains and traditional settlements that the city proudly offers.

Split, Croatia

Split lies on the Adriatic coast, central Dalmatia, on the Split (Marjan) peninsula. Although surrounded by sea as a peninsula, Split also borders with surrounding mountains, Mosor on the northeast, Kozjak on the northwest, and Marjan hill as one of the most important symbols of the city, rising on the west side of the peninsula, in the immediate vicinity of the old city Centre. Autumn in Split lasts from September to December, although not a favorite part of the year to some, in many ways it is the most beautiful time of the year to visit Split, especially at the end of September and in October. It is the time when the temperature of the sea is ideal, the summer heat is at its low, and the main season is still on.
