This amazing trip combines the very best of the Italian and French Riviera. The Italian Riviera, also known as the “Riviera Ligure”, is a narrow coastal strip that lies between the Ligurian Sea and the Alps. Enjoy “picture perfect” fishing villages, such as Portofino, Santa Margherita de Ligure, and the historic seaport of Genoa. The French Riviera, or Côte d’Azur, is a sun-soaked stretch of coastline that skirts the Mediterranean in the southeast corner of France. The French cities live and breathe la belle époque and centuries-old villages crown the peaks of the rugged landscape whose inhabitants tend the olive trees and grape vines that traverse the countryside. From museums to castles and storied resorts, the beauty of both nature and culture in the French Riviera

abounds at every corner. Traveling to the glamorous French Riviera is a feast for all the senses.

ITINERARY

FRI, 4/20, Day 1 – US: Depart the U. S. for Italy.

SAT, 4/21, Day 2 – Santa Margherita Ligure: Upon arrival, proceed to baggage claim and after clearing customs you will be met by your tour escort. Transfer to your hotel in Santa Margherita Ligure. After check in enjoy an orientation tour with your tour manager. Set on the Gulf of Tigullio between Rapallo and Portofino, the resort/fishing town of Santa Margherita Ligure really couldn’t be in a better neighbourhood. Fashionable but much quieter than Portofino, life in Santa Margherita Ligure centres around the lovely palm-laden harbour, where boating and simple sunning are the orders of the day. The town has some good shopping options, lovely cafes and interesting sights like its 16th-century castle and the 17th-century Basilica di Santa Margherita. Welcome dinner at the Hotel (Dinner). Overnight in Santa Margherita Ligure.

SUN, 4/22, Day 3: Santa Margherita/ Portofino/ Genoa: This morning we are off to world famous Portofino. A playground for the rich, famous, and fabulously chic since the late 19th century, the former fishing village remains one of the most exclusive locations on the Ligurian coast. Behind all that glitz, however, you can still uncover the area’s local traditions in the nearby villages. Follow the pathway up the Salita di San Giorgio, past the yellow Church of San Giorgio, to the 16th-century castle, named after a British consul in Genoa, Montague Yeats Brown. This is the best place to take spectacular photographs of the town. You will have free time for lunch on your own in one of the outdoor patios overlooking Portofino’s bay. In the afternoon travel to Genoa, Italy's principal seaport. Genoa, Genova in Italian, was the site of EXPO 92 and a 2004 European Culture Capital made famous by Columbus. We will walk to the historic center said to be the largest medieval quarter in Europe, with a wealth of churches, palaces, and museums. In 2006, Genoa's Rolli Palaces were added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. And for our food lovers, we will have an opportunity to try the traditional Geona salami and sample “Pesto” which comes from this region. (Breakfast, Dinner) Overnight in Santa Margherita Ligure.

MON, 4/23, Day 4 – Santa Margherita Ligure/ Piedmont: Santa Margherita Ligure/ Piedmont Wine Region: Today after breakfast we depart to discover the Piedmont Wine Region, one of the most famous wine regions in the world and a “must do” for true wine lovers and collectors and not only for them. We will drive through spectacular hills colored with golden vineyards. We will explore the Langhe area the hills where the most famous red wines of Piemonte such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato d'Asti and many more are produced. Hundreds of wine cellars into Castles, Towers or even Churches. You will visit some of the picturesque little towns such as Barolo, La Morra or Serralunga d’Alba. If you are a wine lover, you will have time for exploring nice prestigious wineries. We will stop for lunch at a local farmhouse for a delicious traditional lunch with wine tasting. Late afternoon back to Santa Margherita evening at leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch) Overnight in Santa Margherita Ligure.

TUE, 4/24, Day 5 - Santa Margherita Ligure – OPTIONAL TOUR Cinque Terre: ($95 per person) After breakfast day at leisure or join us to discover Cinque Terre “the five lands”; five medieval fisherman ports, which developed isolated throughout the ages, as they could only be reached by sea and remained architecturally intact. They represent one of the best preserved natural area of the Mediterranean, recognized by the UNESCO as “Mankind’s World Heritage”, are today a National Park and Protected Marine Area with the aim of protecting not only the environment safety but also its great cultural heritage. We will see how these five small villages are suspended between water and earth, nestled in the cliffs overlooking the sea and green hills. We will proceed by motor coach and train with magnificent views of the coast. We will stop at two of the five villages to absorb their everyday life and enjoy spectacular view of the blue sea. Return to Santa Margherita in the afternoon, dinner on own. (Breakfast) Overnight in Santa Margherita Ligure.

WED, 4/25, Day 6 – Monaco Monte Carlo / Cannes: After breakfast we will depart to France. Cross the border into Monaco, the second smallest country in the world. Learn about the history of this glamorous principality as you witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the Prince’s Palace and visit the final resting place of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III at the Monaco Cathedral. Experience the excitement of the famous Formula One Grand Prix with a spin around part of the race circuit, and see the high-stakes glitz of Monte Carlo’s Casino Square. There will be some free time for shopping in the afternoon. Relax and enjoy views of the Mediterranean on the drive back to Cannes. Upon arrival, panoramic tour of the city by coach featuring the main attractions before the check in at the hotel. Dinner this evening is on your own. (Breakfast) Overnight in Cannes.

THURS, 4/26, Day 7 – Cannes/Nice and Eze: Today, after a relaxing breakfast, we depart to Nice. Enjoy a guided tour of the city and immerse yourself in Nice's history on Place Garibaldi in the Old Town. Marvel at the modern New Town as you stroll along Promenade des Anglais, which dates back almost 200 years and lines the city's Mediterranean coast at the Baie des Anges (Bay of Angels). Visit the flower market and admire the baroque buildings along Promenade des Anglais. Free time for lunch in Nice. In the afternoon, proceed to the tiny village of Eze. This is one of the jewels of the south of France which is probably why it is chosen as a holiday spot by royalty, the rich and the famous. Perched on a rocky hill above the sea, it could not get any prettier. With narrow cobblestone, pedestrian-only streets, wonderful views of the surrounding hills and the azure water below, it is just as it was centuries ago. Choose to visit the Fragonard perfumery or free time to shop and enjoy the amazing view. Return to the hotel in Cannes. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Cannes. (Breakfast)

FRI, 4/27, Day 8 - Cannes / Provence Countryside and Wine Tasting/Lunch: After breakfast enjoy the scenic drive to Provence, where you will visit Gourdon and Saint Paul de Vence. A place of refuge and defense during medieval times, the feudal village is surrounded by thick ramparts and has only one entrance, the Roman Gate, which leads onto Gourdon’s medieval stone house-lined main street, rue de Major. We will stop in Gourdon for a short walking tour. Your day trip continues to Tourrettes/Loup for a photo stop and sample the traditional floral-scented candy at the Florian confectionery, a French Riviera specialty. Then proceed to a local winery for a tasting followed by a farewell lunch. In the afternoon, drive through the provencal countryside to the second-most visited village in France, Saint Paul de Vence with its cobblestone streets and chic art galleries, it’s easy to see why the town is so popular.
