Wednesday – The pleasures of wine. Using the senses: Look, smell, taste - enjoy!During the Wine Tasting you will compare contrast and discover wines, improve your tasting skills and take home prctical tips for wine and Food Matching.

Thursday – A landscape of vineyards and olive trees During our visit to this beautiful wine producing area, we follow the fascinating process of how wine is made from vineyard to glass and explore the art and science of grape growing and winemaking. We enjoy a comparative tasting of both red and white wines.

Friday – Understanding Extra virgin Olive OilThe land and soil, the processing, the varieties of olives,...fresh, flavor: clean with herbaceous notes, fruity aroma and a bitter, slight pungent flavor... How to choose olive oil, the cornerstone of the Italian diet and how to taste it properly.We will taste samples and learn to recognize its sensory attributes. Enjoying extra virgin olive oil with food.

We round off the evening with dinner in a restaurant where we enjoy a tasting menu of perfectly matched speciality food and wines.

Walking and Talking

Monday – Initial test and Italian language lessons from 9am to 1pmLa città. An urban walk “The City from the Walls”This walk will help students get to know Lucca and the surrounding areas from the viewpoint of the Renaissance walls that encircles the city. The walk ends with a welcoming drink at one of Lucca’s bars.

Tuesday – La collina. A walk through the olive groves and vineyards that surround the historical homes of the old nobility of Lucca.We round off the evening enjoying fresh local Tuscan food and good wine.

Wednesday – Il mare. A walk down by the sea.This walk starts in the Natural Park along the beautiful Tuscan coastline where students will walk through the shaded paths snaking through copses of oak, alder, pine and junipers trees and explore the moorlands and the dunes, before finally reaching the sandy beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Thursday – La montagna (full day excursion). A walk through the mountains.This walk will take students through the mountains north of Lucca, known as Garfagnana. Lunch in a typical local trattoria. In the afternoon the walk will continue to Barga, the most charming town of the region.

Friday – Il lago. “The village of Massaciuccoli in the footsteps of Giacomo Puccini”Massaciuccoli lake is a natural area which stretches between the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea and an impressive hillside. The excursion will end at Osteria Le Terme where we will enjoy locally produced salumi and other typical products.

Teacher Refresher Course

20 hours/week teaching practice and work in peer with a teacher trainer+ 10 hours of Tuition on Methodology (one-to-one)

This course has an extremely practical approach and is aimed primarily at those who are interested in a specific teaching of the spoken language. In addition to the subjects of language teaching, the program offers a constant opportunity to practise and improve the knowledge of the language. This is why it is particularly suitable for non-mother tongue teachers who don’t live in Italy and feel the need for a more general direct contact with the language and the culture

The course includes a frequency of 30 hours divided into guided observation of the class and language lessons, teaching practice, lessons in language teaching and laboratories according to the following structure:

• Teaching practice and work in peer with a teacher trainer, 20 lessons, 9.00 am –1.00 pm: this part of the course gives the opportunity to observe the teacher’sexperience in the classroom and the different teaching techniques, possibly atdifferent levels.
