Vallelunga - a circuit in the heart of Italy and home to the ACI CSAI “Michele Alboreto” Federal School, also known as the University of auto racing. Of course, the schedule of the Italian F4 Championship by Abarth could not but include this prestigious venue, considering that one of the main goals of the series is the promotion of youth development in the world of professional four wheel racing. The twists and turns of Vallelunga have had a lot to teach to kids of numerous generations. The step that the F4 will take on this circuit is not just one more round towards the title hunt, but an important milestone for the future of motorsport - the future that every engine and speed lover dreams of.
Vallelunga. Circuito nel cuore dell’Italia, sede della Scuola Federale ACI CSAI “Michele Alboreto” e, per questo, chiamata anche l’Università dell’automobilismo sportivo. Certo non poteva mancare una pista di tale prestigio nel calendario dell’Italian F4 Championship by Abarth, che proprio nel far crescere i giovani piloti nel mondo dell’automobilismo ha uno dei suoi obiettivi primari. Qui, sulle curve che tanti insegnamenti hanno trasmesso a ragazzi di diverse generazioni, a compiere un passo decisivo in più non sarà, quindi, solo la lotta per il titolo, ma anche quella per un futuro importante nel motorsport. Il futuro a cui aspirano tutti coloro che amano i motori e la velocità.

Lance Stroll (Prema Power Team) conquers the fi rst race of the 4th round of the Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth. The Canadian’s domination is undiscussed, he is simply uncatchable: he starts from pole position and leads for all 28 minutes. The only thrill in the race comes in the battle for second and third place, when Leonardo Pulcini (Euronova Racing by Fortec) fi nds a hesitating rival in his path who is delayed from the previous lap. The Italian tries to pass him, the driver shuts him off and the two can’t avoid contact. Mattia Drudi (Adriaraceway by Malta) takes advantage of the situation and reconquers the position ahead of Pulcini he’d lost at the start, when he let his tires skid a little too long. Just a couple of corners later, however, order is restored and Pulcini is again ahead of Drudi, who seems to have some grip issues. Running 2-3 tenths per lap slower, Alain Valente (Jenzer Motorsport) and Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport) cross the fi nish line behind the two rivals.

Mattia Drudi (Adriaraceway byMalta) ne approfi tta, dopo che al via - facendo slittaretroppo le gomme - aveva perso una posizione proprio afavore di Pulcini. Bastano un paio di curve per ristabilirele posizioni precedenti con Pulcini che supera nuovamenteDrudi, che ha qualche problemino di trazione rispettoal pilota Euronova. Alle loro spalle, con un ritmo garapiù alto di 2-3 decimi al giro, si piazzano Alain Valente(Jenzer Motorsport) e Joao Vieira (Antonelli Motorsport).

Andrea Fontana (Euronova Racing by Fortec) is the undiscussed leader of the second race of Round 4 in Magione. The Italian starts from pole position, thanks to the grid inversion of the top 10 fi nishers of Race 1. His victory, however, is also fruit of a great performance throughout the race. He is the best on track, as proven also by the fact the he scores the best lap. Andrea Russo (Diegi Motorsport) closes behind him. He does a good job of working his way up to second through nice overtakes, but never really poses a threat to the lead: his best lap is about 4 tenths slower than Fontana’s. Matteo Desideri (Antonelli Motorsport) closes third and collects a great podium fi nish at his very fi rst race in F4 - not bad for a fresh class rookie. Mattia Drudi (Adriaraceway by Malta) claims fourth place, thanks to a last minute pass on Bar Bauch (Israel F4 By Torino S.C.), in turn busy keeping at bay a hard-charging Takashi Kasai (Prema Power Team), on the rise from twelfth and sixth across the fi nish-line.

Alle sue spalle chiudeAndrea Russo (Diegi Motorsport) che ben si districa tra isorpassi per raggiungere la seconda posizione, ma che nonè mai in stato in corsa per la prima posizione: il suo bestlap è di circa 4 decimi più alto rispetto a quello di Fontana.Bel podio, terzo gradino per lui, per Matteo Desideri(Antonelli Motorsport), alla primissima gara in F4: nonmale per un esordiente di categoria. Quarto chiude MattiaDrudi (Adriaraceway by Malta) che nel fi nale supera BarBauch (Israel F4 By Torino S.C.) poi tallonato anche da unarrembante Takashi Kasai (Prema Power Team), partito 12°e capace di concludere in sesta piazza assoluta.

In the third and fi nal race of the Magione round, Maisano (Prema Power Team) starts from pole position and keeps in the lead until the fi nish-line. He is followed by his teammate Lance Stroll (Prema Power Team) and by Leonardo Pulcini (Euronova Racing by Fortec). Thanks to the fact that the Frenchman runs in the F4 Trophy (for drivers 18 and older) and not in the championship, Stroll and Pulicini are thus 1st and 2nd. In other words, Stroll is once again the winner. The third step of the podium goes to Mattia Drudi (Adriaraceway by Malta). Following him there is Andrea Russo (Diegi Motorsport) and, a bit farther off, the trio of Andrea Fontana (Euronova Racing by Fortec), Alain Valente (Jenzer) and Takashi Kasai (Prema Power Team), able to slipstream behind the front runners all race long, but never causing a real threat. Bar Baruch (Israel F.4) and Edi Haxhiu (Cram) round off the top 10. A fi nal note goes to Ivan Matveev (SMP by Euronova), forced to withdraw from the race on the very last lap, while attempting a pass on Andrea Fontana.

VALIDATION BENCH: WHAT IS IT?The validation bench is the short-hand name used for the chassis inspection process. In the Formula 4 series it involves commissioners as well as team technicians, with the goal of limiting the incidence of mistakes and
irregularities.

FOCUS : VALIDATION PROCESS The Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth foresees the inspection of each chassis to ensure that all measurements are compliant and check for irregularities. This time we peer into this validation process, explaining facts and principles
MEASUREMENTSIn this shot, a commissioner is busy checking the height of the chassis off the ground, helped by a lift bed. Every section of the frame is measured by hand: there is no use of electronic devices or high-tech machines, just a good old measuring tape. When it comes to this, a traditional instrument is the best error-proof guarantee.
