From the basics of getting online to interacting via social networking sites;from turning on a digital camera tosharing photos online; Digital Skillsfrom BCS allows learners to tap intothese skills and make the most oftoday’s online and digital devices.

Digital Skills is the entry level coursethat combines IT user skills with digitalmedia skills. It appeals to people of allages and abilities as it assumes noprior knowledge of digital technologybut instead provides learners withtheir own digital literacy at their own pace.

The qualification is available as two options, to suit your learners’ requirements. Digital Skills – GettingStarted is the two-unit option thathelps learners to get started on a computer and the internet. The fullseven-unit option, Digital Skills, provides the basics as well as theskills to enjoy a range of other digitalmedia including video software, music,photography and social networking.

Interactive learning Digital Skills training is delivered online using interactive exercisesstructured into easy-to-learn units. All your learner needs is a computerwith internet access – making thequalification ideal for in-class, distance or blended learning.

The e-learning programme remembersa learner’s progress and helps them to advance at a pace they find comfortable. Content is highly relevant,featuring current products such asiTunes and Facebook that engage withthe learner.

Digital Skills comes complete withlearning plans, training materials andassessment. For each learner, tutorscan access a full learning record whichshows the modules completed, time of last access, hours spent and assessment performance.

How is it assessed?Learners’ understanding is assessedonline through a mixture of multiple-choice and simulated questions. The assessment is innovative and interactive, while remaining suited tothe level of learning. When yourlearner is ready, you assign the timeand date of assessment (which must becarried out at your approved centre).

Designed for accessDigital Skills is accessible for specialneeds education settings. Accessibilityfeatures include audio transcripts forall training and assessment materials;specific themes to aid dyslexia andcolour blindness; and a high contrasttheme for learners with severe visual impairment.
