Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments

Teachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S. Teachers:

a) design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.

b) develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress.

c) customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.

d) provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.

Examples: PowerPoint- The use of different PowerPoints allows student to in cooperate digital tools while promoting students’ learning and creativity. PowerPoints allows students to develop the information in their own ways which makes it personalized and fulfills their curiosity. Model Digital-Age Work and LearningTeachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:

a) demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations.

b) collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation.

c) communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats.

d) model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.

Examples:1. Google Earth- Allows students to take information and transfer to new situations. They can take this informative and

present to other people in their lives using digital media and formats. Google Earth is a digital tools that locates information and help students to see the it visually helping them to analyze and evaluate information in a fun ways. 2. Interactive Whiteboards- The use of interactive whiteboards models and facilitates effective use of technology. The students can see the teacher use this digital tool to convey information and enhance learning. Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility

Teachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers:

a) advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.

b) address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources.

c) promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.

d) develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools.

Examples:E-Safety and Fair Use- This entire page is about how to use the internet safely. It shows how I have created different tools to help students learn how to approach these situations. Examples:Wiki page- My entire wiki pace demonstrate how I use technology effectively in the classroom. It shows the different tools that can be used to promote a creative learning environment. It models lifelong learning because I will continue to makes changes when needed. Examples: 1. Talking Graphics: Allows students to apply existing existing knowledge and make a new product by the process of

Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Students:

Examples:1. Screencasting- This application allows students to interactively learn how to do something on their computer. They can

2. Skype: This application has students communicate virtually with one another. They can share ideas by talking or showing a pictures by not actually being there. Research and Information FluencyStudents apply digital tools to gather, evaluate, and use information. Students:

a) plan strategies to guide inquiry.

b) locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media.

c) evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.

d) process data and report results.

Examples:Poll Everywhere- This application allows students to create a poll asking questions on a certain topic. The students process the data within the data with questions. The results are responded to the classroom immediately. This tools allows students to evaluate their understanding of certain concepts. Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, and Decision MakingStudents use critical thinking skills to plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems, and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources. Students:

b) plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project.

c) collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions.

d) use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions.

Examples:Movies and slideshows – Allows students to conduct research and develop a solution to present information. It allows students to make decisions in what directions they want the instruction to be presented. Examples:1. E Safety and Fair Use: Provides resources to help children, teachers, and parents about using the internet safely. Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. Students:

a) understand and use technology systems.

b) select and use applications effectively and productively.

c) troubleshoot systems and applications.

Examples:1. Design Principles: After students learn how to utilize design principles they can go back into other technology

10 WI Teacher Standards (1-3)

1. Teachers know the subjects they are teaching.The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines she or he teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils.

2. Teachers know how children grow.The teacher understands how children with broad ranges of ability learn and provides instruction that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development.

3. Teachers understand that children learn differently.The teacher understands how pupils differ in their approaches to learning and the barriers that impede learning and can adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with disabilities and exceptionalities.

Examples:1. Assessment: My assessment page gives detailed instruction to help students learn how to do the various projects. The

instructions show that I have mastered each assessment tool. The instructions help the students who need to read to comprehend the task and the examples help the visual students see how the projects should look upon completion. 2. Interactive whiteboards: This page shows my exact ideas on how I would utilize interactive whiteboards. I give lesson ideas that help students who are visual and who need to read and write something to master the material. 10 WI Teacher Standards (4-6)

4. Teachers know how to teach.The teacher understands and uses a variety of instructional strategies, including the use of technology,

to encourage children's development of critical thinking, problem solving, and performance skills.

5. Teachers know how to manage a classroom.The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a

learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.

6. Teachers communicate well. The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.

10 WI Teacher Standards (7-10)7. Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons.

The teacher organizes and plans systematic instruction based upon knowledge of subject matter, pupils, the community, and curriculum goals.

8. Teachers know how to test for student progress. The teacher understands and uses formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual, social, and physical development of the pupil.

9. Teachers are able to evaluate themselves. The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on pupils, parents, professionals in the learning community and others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.

10. Teachers are connected with other teachers and the community. The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well-being and acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner.
