Item 251-01 – Peculiar DLO Jubilee card – 1897, 1¢ Jubilee stationery card with 1¢ Jubilee added tied by Quebec duplex cancel to US. In Montreal, the card was marked mistakenly insufficiently prepaid, ‘’1’’ and forwarded to the Dead Letter Office. A further 1¢ Jubilee was added, cancelled by DLO handstamp and forwarded to destination. Item 251-04 – Montreal octagonal ‘’not called for’’ – 1882, 1¢ postal stationery envelope with American Forestry Congress c/c paying 1¢ drop letter rate. Not called for and returned. A very desirable octagonal auxiliary marking. Letter carrier mark (b/s) $100.00

Item 251-14 –Customs card to Germany – 1938, 2¢ Mufti tied by Montreal machine cancel on Customs and Excise card (Form E-42) to Germany. The plausible theory here is that the cards were franked in advance for the 2¢ domestic postcard rate, Customs and Excise were not listed in the postal guide having free franking privilege (OHMS) in 1938. That card was just addressed to Germany and slipped through. The rate was 3¢ $30.00 SOLD

Item 251-16 – Second class matter, newspaper – 1951, 1¢ meter (no. 145947) Quebec Que with address label accompanies on complete antialcoolique paper to local - redirected to Hauterive Que (today Baie Comeau, Quebec North Shore). Item 251-41 – George Brown MP, 8th Parliament – 1864, stampless cover (with fault at top) from the Legislative Assembly at Quebec to Toronto. Signed by George Brown, MP for South Oxford. Mr. Brown was a Scottish-born Canadian journalist, politician and one of the Fathers of Confederation; attended the Charlottetown (September 1864) and Quebec (October 1864) conferences.[1] He is best known as the founder and editor of the Toronto Globe, Canada's most influential newspaper at the time. $75.00 SOLD
