Rashi explains that if there is no “ו” prefix to אלה, that would indicate that the topic at hand is discon- nected from and independent of the previ- ous one. Because it says אלהו, that means it is connected to the previous ענין. Rashi connues to state how they are connected: ואלה מוסיף על הראשונים. מה הראשונים מסיני אף אלו מסיני.Just as the עשרת הדברותwere given מסיני, so too the דיניםmenoned in Parshas Mishpam are מסיני. We see from this that the manner in which people interact with one another, in business and all maers of בין אדם לחבירוare part of תורה מסיני. The צמח דוד, זצ ל, says that the words ואלה מוסיף על הראשוניםhave an even deeper meaning. The mitzvohs that are בין אדם למקוםare only between Man and G-d, whereas the משפטיםare מוסיףon the ראשוניםin that besides being maers of בין אדם לחבירו, they are in addion to בין אדם למקום. It is also important to note that as an introducon to Parshas Teruma, we read about the בין אדם לחבירו. When a person treats his fellow man in the proper and correct way and there is adchdus among K’lal Yisrael, the שכינהdwells amongst us. Therefore, following Parshas Mishpam is the parsha of ועשו לי מקדש ושכנתי בתוכם.“ In Parshas Yisro, ( י ג, פרק י ח), it says; ויהי ממחרת וישב משה לשפט את העם.“ Rashi explains that the word ממחרתrefers to the day aſter Yom Kippur. Why did he go straight to the mundane maers of his people, aſter having been elevated to such great heights in שמים, learning Torah from Hashem, not eang or drinking all during that me? The קרן ישועה, זצ לexplains that on Yom Kippur (the prior day) משהhad seen truckloads of עבירותcommied by עם ישראל(figuravely) being dumped in the river aſter the כפרהof יום הכיפורים. Aſter all, we say in our Yom Kippur tefillos; מלך מוחל וסולח לעוונות עמו בית ישראל”, which means we are forgiven for our sins by Hashem. Suddenly Moshe saw a tremendous pile of sins that had remained completely intact. When he asked Hashem about this, Hashem responded: “These are the עבירות בין אדם לחבירו, which are not forgiven on Yom Kippur ( מסכת יומא,דף פ ח). As soon as Moshe realized what this horrific sight was ויהי ממחרת...immediately aſter he came down from the mountain, וישב משה לשפט את העם”, he quickly got to work dealing with maers of בין אדםלחבירו. We see how much of an emphasis is put on how we deal with one another and what an integral part of our mesorah this is. It is so important for our children to learn and even more importantly, for them to see how one should treat another and that honorable interacon among people according to the Torah will bring השראת השכינהto us as a naon and to each individual family. Dear Parents, The parsha begins with the letter “ו” with...ואלה המשפטים. Rashi explains that if there is no “ו” prefix to אלה, that would indicate that the topic at hand is discon-nected from and independent of the previ-ous one. Because it says ואלה, that means it is connected to the previous ענין. Rashi continues to state how they are connected:

ואלה מוסיף על הראשונים. ” “ מה הראשונים מסיני אף אלו מסיני.

Just as the עשרת הדברות were given mentioned in דינים so too the ,מסיניParshas Mishpatim are מסיני. We see from this that the manner in which people interact with one another, in business and all matters of בין אדם לחבירו are part of תורה מסיני. The ל“זצ ,צמח דוד , says that the words have an even ואלה מוסיף על הראשוניםdeeper meaning. The mitzvohs that are are only between Man and בין אדם למקוםG-d, whereas the משפטים are מוסיף on the in that besides being matters of ראשונים they are in addition to ,בין אדם לחבירו It is also important to note .בין אדם למקוםthat as an introduction to Parshas Teruma, we read about the בין אדם לחבירו. Why did he go straight to the mundane matters of his people, after having been elevated to such great heights in שמים, learning Torah from Hashem, not eating or drinking all during that time? The ל“זצ ,קרן ישועה explains that on Yom Kippur (the prior day) משה had seen truckloads of עבירות committed by עם being dumped in the (figuratively) ישראלriver after the כפרה of יום הכיפורים. After all, we say in our Yom Kippur tefillos; “מלך מוחל וסולח לעוונות עמו בית ישראל ”,

which means we are forgiven for our sins by Hashem. Suddenly Moshe saw a tremendous pile of sins that had remained completely intact. ט מלאכות“ל PRESENTATION Parnes Hayom

Learning was dedicated on the following days:

The seventh grade girls enjoyed an interactive

presentation by Rabbi Josh Rossman, who demonstrated

many of the 39 malochos that are asur on Shabbos.

The girls had the opportunity to spin raw wool into yarn,

grind wheat kernels into flour and use a winnowing shovel to separate the wheat chaff

from the kernel. Thank you to the PTA for

sponsoring and Mrs. Perlowitz for arranging

the presentation. It was a fantastic opportunity

to bring our lessons to life.

Dear Parents, I hope a wonderful and restful vacation was en-joyed by all! It is great to see the girls back at school looking refreshed and eager to resume their limudim. Chazal teach that tefillah stands at the highest point of the world. However, the significance of tefillah lies not only in its heavenly quality, but also in the very earthly place in the human heart. Therefore, it is so important to understand the workings of our tefillos and what our prayers can accomplish. The founda-tions of tefilla and con-necting to Hashem are laid in the younger years. The way children are intro-duced and encouraged to daven and bentch properly establishes patterns that will remain with them throughout their lives. With this in mind, there are many programs imple-mented throughout the school year that explore the concept of tefilla and create an understanding of tefillos according to grade

level, helping the girls cherish the beauty and zechus of tefillah. I was very proud of the girls in grades 1-6 who participated in the mid winter break tefillah program. Many of them submitted completed charts showing that they had davened regularly during vacation. This is just one example of how the girls internalize and con-nect the lessons imparted at YBH. They will be re-warded with prizes for ele-vating their vacation in a meaningful way. Keep up the great work! I was also delighted to hear from the 2nd grade morohs that they have begun the unit on tefillah , introduc-ing the girls to the brachos of Shemonah Esrei which they will add to their daily tefillos in 3rd grade. The girls are learning inspira-tional songs to connect to the meaning of the brachos and are also designing a creative scrapbook in rela-tion to that concept.

Our Chodesh Shevat program for grades 1-5 focusing on reciting brachos aloud and answering Amen has really taken off! The walls in the classrooms are filled with crowns (too many to count) displaying the names of girls who have been vigilant about saying their brachos aloud with the proper kavana. Yasher Koach to Morah Weiss and the 4th grade girls for performing a Tu B’Shevat play in Ivrit! The girls sang meaningful songs about recognizing and appreciating that everything comes from Hashem. They also acted out a story in Ivrit about the importance of giving maaser. Kol Hakavod! It was a huge nachas to see their talents and Ivrit skills shine. Have a wonderful Shabbos, Mrs. Chana Frumit Stern, Assistant Principal, Girls Division

A Peek Into Our Week A Peek Into Our Week:

Morah Rosenberg’s Kitah Daled: The girls of 4G-R are exercising with dikduk, jumping up when morah calls out a rosh milah indicating a word in asid (future tense) and sitting down when the sofei mila of avar (past tense) are called out. We are becoming pros at finding the shaim haguf and translating Chumash and Navi words into Hebrew and English. In Ivrit, to practice our vocabulary and dikduk skills, we each made a beautiful aron for clothes and we labelled each article of clothing in Ivrit with correct adjectives. We also wrote chiburim about our favorite doll in Ivrit, which are beautifully displayed in the lobby. In honor of Tu B’Shevat and to focus on our bein adam lachaveiro middos, we each brought home a basket filled with “fruit filled compliments” from our classmates. Morah Bechhofer’s Kitah Beis: We have been focusing on the school-wide middah for Chodesh Shevat. The girls are very enthusiastic to make their brachos out loud so that everyone can answer Amen! An entire wall in our classroom is covered with crowns for each bracha that was said out loud. We are very excited to start our new program “Keep warm with good middos” to help instill middos tovos. The girls will receive “wintery” tickets for displaying good middos, enabling them to earn delicious “wintery” treats.

Mrs. Aisenman’s Fourth Grade Class: Now that we are back after a nice winter break, the girls are busy again with our learning. Before break we had the opportunity to visit the computer lab several times – we researched the planets in our solar system learning how far each planet is from the sun, size, average temperature, and other facts. We also had fun playing games to learn the planets based on given clues. In Social Studies, each girl completed a creative mobile answering five questions she researched on New Jersey. These mobiles are hanging in our classroom. In writing, we have been focusing on writing a proper paragraph and using descriptive words to allow the reader to visualize what they are reading. Students recently wrote about hot cocoa; each girl used sensory words to describe hot cocoa. We will also be starting our story writing project in which each girl will write her own creative story. We have begun reading The Cricket in Times Square. In Math, we completed multiplication of 2-digit by 1-digit numbers and are almost done learning division by 1-digit numbers. Next we will delve into factors, multiples and number patterns.

Science E2K began this week. The students are performing open experiments regarding capillarity in plants. They meet every Tues-day evening for an hour of sci-ence enrichment with Rabbi Wieder.

ECD HIGHLIGHTS SNOW MUCH FUN!

The K-K children enjoyed the mild

weather while displaying their

artistic talents by painting the snow. What better way

to enjoy a beautiful day?

Morah Weiss’s Kitah Daled: We recently reviewed all the shorashim we learned since the start of the school year. We spent all week reviewing approximately 75 shorashim using flash cards, games and white boards and then held a class wide Shorashim Bee. Congratulations to all the students who put much effort into mastering their shorashim and Mazal Tov to the winners of the Bee; Devorah Rothenberg, Sara Wiener, Yocheved Weinstein, Talya Schulder and Shayna Bashist.

3G completed their unit on ecosystems with a diorama project.
