From the Headmaster
Issue Number 609 12th Oct 2018
Dear Parents,
And breathe… where did that half of term go!?
As we ease ourselves into half term and with the theme
of the past week fresh in my mind, I wanted to offer sin-
cere and heartfelt thanks to all within the Foremarke
community. Since arriving, my family and I have re-
ceived a warm and genuine welcome and one for which
we will be ever grateful. When visiting a school for the
first time – whether that be for an interview, as a pro-
spective parent, or for a sports fixture we invariably
note the environment and facilities. Our senses also
pick-up on the atmosphere, vibe, ethos and happiness.
Such feelings are often the catalysts that prompt subse-
quent action.
With roots and connections extending far into Fore-
marke and reaching up into Repton, it is hugely satisfy-
ing to know that our culture and values extend deep
within our community and how we engage with each
other every day.
Best wishes for the break ahead. Stay blessed, healthy
and safe.
Robert Relton, Headmaster

The U13A Girls headed to the Nottingham Hockey
Centre yesterday for their IAPS Regionals. Tough
competition throughout the day, but the girls per-
formed brilliantly winning their group stages and only
conceding one goal on the way. A superb effort from
all and deservedly through to the Nationals. Well
done Girls. RA

Music Notice and News
On Tuesday 9th October a group of our young
musicians went to Nether Hall nursing home to
play to the residents. It was a lovely sunny after-
noon - the children played in an inner garden so
that all residents could hear , even if from their
rooms - apparently those who could not access
the performing area were humming along to the
melodies being played [which included many more
traditional and well known works] Our children
thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon , warmly en-
gaging in conversation with those whom they met
- it is always so lovely to give something back to
our local community and for our young musicians
to realise the pleasure which music can give.

Early Years Health and Fitness Day
Wow – what a great day. During our Health and
Fitness Day we participated in a range of fun filled
activities. In the Nursery, we started our day
with an amazing swimming session with Mr Smith.
Everyone swam with noodles and there was lots
of bubble blowing and splashing. The Reception
children headed over to the Sports Hall to learn
lots of different styles of dancing. We had so
much fun, moving our bodies in lots of creative
ways and enjoyed learning how to make our
hearts beat really fast. The adults were amazed
with how quickly the children grasped the dance
moves and really did show the adults how it was
done!
We also made fruit ke-
babs, cranberry flapjacks
and berry and banana
smoothies. We had just
about finished making
our yummy snacks when
parents and grandpar-
ents started to arrive to
join us for our healthy
afternoon tea. What a
great day enjoyed by all.
Look out for the Burton Mail on the 26th
October, Reception will be featuring in their
―First Class‖ supplement.

Trips Galore!
Last week both Year 3 and Year 4 enjoyed fantas-
tic trips out of school to support their History
work. Year 3 visited Creswell Crags and learnt
lots about the Stone Age and Year 4 enhanced
their understanding of Roman Britain at the Lunt
Roman Fort. The pictures speak for themselves!

Cadbury’s World
Boarders‘ Trip 7th October By Alice Pocinkova
On Sunday morning we woke up and got ready for the
boarders‘ trip to Cadbury‘s World. The bus journey
took just over an hour but finally we arrived, all of us
excited to see what was inside the enormous Cad-
bury‘s factory.
Once inside we received two free bars of chocolate
which we were promised would be given to us later,
on our return to Foremarke before we were given a
guided tour of exhibits, short films and talks about the
history of the Cadbury family and the early days of
large scale chocolate making in Britain during the Vic-
torian Age. There was a lot to read and listen to.
To read more of Alice‘s report please visit the school

of causing upset to many including some staff!

Medical Centre Notice NATIONAL BUG BUSTIN DAY IS OCTOBER 31ST
The aim of national Bug Busting Day is to find all the head lice and eradicate them in one fell swoop. This
stops them from circulating endlessly. We would encourage all parents to check their child‘s hair over the half
term holiday as this is the perfect opportunity to check and treat over the 2 week break.
Often a child who has caught head lice in the last month will show no obvious symptoms, but they are still conta-
gious. In most cases there will be just 10 or so lice on the head, and parents will not discover them unless they use
a Bug Buster Kit. This contains the unique Bug Buster combs, expressly designed and scientifically tested for accu-
rate louse detection, and full, easy-to-follow instructions on using them with ordinary shampoo and condition-
er. Remember it is always necessary to check again the Bug Busting way after treatment because none is guaran-
teed to kill all head lice and their eggs.
The charity Community Hygiene Concern provides Bug Buster Kits for families on a not-for-profit basis.
If you require any further information you can:
Ring the Bug Buster Help Line on 01908 561928 or look at

6.30pm but they will need to bring in a packed tea.

These clothes should be taken to the Changing Rooms

A Note From Dons Coleston-Shields
The hands of the clock turn & somehow
nearly seven years have passed...After three
years as Friends of Foremarke Chair, two
years as Vice Chair before that & another
couple of years helping out before that, I am
stepping far, far away from the Committee.
Victoria Smith is also stepping down after
five years as Vice Chair, Treasurer & Chair
(before me) & Nisha Ari is leaving the post
she held as Secretary. Ladies, it has been an
absolute pleasure to work with you - thank
you!
Our thanks to those who have lent a hand (Henrietta Barton, Natalie Groves, Lisa Par-
kin & Roz Hepworth most recently) & to all
parents who have supported us from afar,
with raffle prizes & chocolate deliveries (for
Chocolate Bingo) just when we needed them
most, attendance at the many events we
have organised over the years (especially our
two wonderful Balls!) & (perhaps most im-
portantly) your kind words of thanks - it has
been good to know that what we have done
has made a difference for you.
Thank you to all Foremarke Hall staff - you
have made our lives so much easier!
So for the very last time...
Have a wonderful half-term break...see you
on the other side!
