The activities provided by the School give students a well-structured opportunity to have some fun, celebrate their journey through School, spend some time together before the onslaught of exams and, in a dignified manner, graduate from the School. The highlights of this process are always the Valedictory Service and the Valedictory Dinner. The Service is held at St Paul’s Cathedral and the Dinner at Brighton International Receptions. On these occasions reflections are shared about their time at School and about their pathway forward. At the Cathedral Michael Todd and Stephanie Wilson spoke beautifully about their journey through the School and that night the Head Prefects, Charlotte Sutton and Ryan Buckler, delivered passionate, emotion charged addresses in which they thanked the staff and their parents for the support provided. Mr Cameron Lancaster, Head of Frogmore, not only spoke but, bravely, sang his message to the graduating class. He used the year group’s favourite song, Sweet Caroline, as the basis of his comments. They are students, they are sports people, choristers, musicians, actors, backstage helpers, community service providers, House leaders, Cadet leaders, role models and so many other things but, once again most importantly, they are fine young people and we should be proud, as a School Community, that this place has once again produced in strong partnership with parents and guardians, young people so ready for the world into which they now move. At this School they will not be judged by their ATAR Score. I am sure we all join in wishing the Class of 2017 all the very best for their forthcoming examinations and for life beyond Mentone Grammar. We thank them for all that they have brought to the School over the years. ISSUE NO 28 - TERM 4 27 OCTOBER 2017
