Dear Parents: For the past five days the Middle School celebrated Spirit Week and it was exciting to see the students who dressed up and showed their Bearcat spirit. Thanks to the MS Student Council for organizing the theme days. We also had a fantastic Sports Day a nd the rain did not dampen our spirits. The displays of good sportsmanship and teamwork among the students were admirable. A big thank you to the PE Department for organizing an activity- packed, fun-filled Sports Day. The students and teachers put on an outstanding Middle School Concert and they are to be applauded. The music was upbeat and lively and showed the range of skill s of our instrumentalists. We greatly appreciate all the hard work and efforts of the Music department teachers, who nurture the students’ talents and skills. The concert season continues with the Grade 7 – 12 Beginners Recital on Tuesday, December 13. Performances begin at 5:30 P.M. in the Little Theater. Hope to see you there! Unbelievably, we have reached the final week of semester 1, and each year the time seems to fly by more quickly. Please note that we will not publish a parent bulletin. Additionally, students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon on Thursday, December 15 and we ask that you make the necessary transportation arrangements so that your child is picked up promptly at dismissal time. As the semester draws to a close and grades are finalized, please be informed that PowerSchool will be closed starting 9 January 2012 and will reopen on 20 January 2012. During this time teachers will be finalizing narrative reports on each student. Classes resume on Monday, January 9, 2012. Students should report to Homebase for the first 15 minutes of the day. During this festive time of year we'd like to wish all the families of the ISM community a wa rm and h appy holiday season. We hope yo u all have an opportunity to relax, reflect on and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of this past year. The students have earned a well deserved break. FRIDAY BULLETIN  PAGE 10

From the PTA

Dear Parents,

The holidays are quickly approaching, and I’m sure we are all looking forward to enjoying some well-deserved vacationtime. However, the PTA has its biggest event of the school year coming up as well –International Family Fun Day (IFFD),which will take place on January 21, 2012. This is an event that continues to be a highlight of the ISM experience.

There are many reasons for attending and participating in IFFD – from children enjoying the games and fun with theirfriends to parents experiencing a new adventure in culinary “diplomacy” at the International Food Tasting Booths.

In past years, countries from all over the world have been represented in the International Food Fair. It only takes asmall group of volunteers to put together a booth, and sharing our diverse, multi-national cuisine is a truly rewardingexperience. Please contact me if you want to get involved. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thus far I have at least one volunteer for the following countries:

Japan, Taiwan, Pakistan, Thailand, Latin America, Australia/New Zealand, and Europe

Here are the countries that have not yet been represented:Philippines, India, Korea, America/Canada, China, and Indonesia. If you are interested or know anyone who is, my contact information is:
