Meet the FOB Committee and Class Reps on the Belham website http://www.thebelhamprimaryschool.org.uk/friends-of-belham.html Contact us [email protected] DIARY UPDATE All our future events are under review as we consult with the school and as government advice develops. FUNDRAISING GOLF DAY - FRI 27 th MAR Sadly, the government’s advice on non-essential contact and the possibility of the golf club closing its doors mean we have had to postpone the Golf Day. If you had bought a ticket, you will have heard from us already about this and your ticket has been refunded. Hopefully we can rearrange this event later in the year. EASTER EGG HUNT – SAT 28 th MARCH Similarly, and sadly, the Easter Egg hunt will be cancelled. We plan to distribute Easter Eggs via the teachers on Friday so that families can arrange their own Easter Egg hunts at home. Please scroll down for a list of ingredients. The artwork is included as a separate link to the main email. SUPPORTING THE SCHOOL, COMMUNITY AND EACH OTHER We are liaising with the school right now to assist with funding where needed to support families in the event that the school needs to close. Please do reach out to other parents and families for support if needed. If you haven’t already joined the Whatsapp group for your year group, this can be a great way of staying in touch and providing support. If you don’t know how to get onto the year group Whatsapp, please email [email protected] or text Hannah on 07958053168 and we can put you in touch with the relevant group. We don’t need to tell people to look out for other families who may be self isolating and for neighbours and friends. Perhaps it’s worth saying please reach out for help from this community if you need it. We note that there are local support networks kicking into operation and leafleting the surrounding area, keep an eye out for these as a route to giving or getting help. LOCAL BUSINESSES Please remember to support the independent businesses in this area in whatever way you can. Many parents at the school are involved in or run local businesses. Many of the local shops, including the book shop on Bellenden road, have switched to a delivery or take away service. Let’s support our local businesses so that they are still there when we emerge from this. FUNDRAISING Opportunities for FOB fundraising are erm… slowing up at the moment for many reasons. Fortunately FOB is in a healthy place financially, and still able to support the school through the fantastic fundraising efforts of the last few years. Please remember though, if you’re ordering stuff online, that you can keep funds flowing to the school by using EASY FUNDRAISING. Just click the link below to register and remember to do your online shopping through the app and a proportion of your spending will get automatically donated to FOB. It is super quick to register and then maybe an extra two seconds when you want to shop. https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/friends-of-belham/ We are currently thinking of other ideas for mutual support and fundraising in the COVID 19 era…. Watch this space for updates and please do make suggestions. Meanwhile, stay positive and stay well. THE FRIENDS’ FRIENDLY ISSUE 66 | 20 March 2020
