AUGURI FELICITY E YUNWEN!!
2015 ITALIAN CAPTAINS Jill Ramsay will be presenting badges to our 2015 new Italian Captains
Felicity 6O and Yunwen 6G at assembly on Monday March 16th.
These two Grade 6 students were selected as they displayed a positive atti-
tude to learning Italian and an aptitude and keenness in Language Learn-
ing. They will be promoting Italian throughout the school via assembly, Lin-
kletter and the Italian Blog. Congratulations to the worthy recipients.
The year has got off to a great start in Languages- Italian. Our Italian
Room is now centrally located close to Yr 5/6 classrooms. Italian has now
moved to Room 5.
Yr 5s have been learning about greetings, basic Italian conversation and
have learnt to describe themselves in Italian. Children have been using
their Ipads to research relevant facts about Italy and discovering that
google translate is not always accurate!
Yr 6s have further extended their language learning and are focusing on
the unit ‘Identity’ where they have made personal profiles about their phys-
ical appearance, likes and interests.
The importance of Carnevale in the Italian culture was also discussed and
various clips on the famous Venice Carnival and Carnival of Viareggio will
also be viewed.
Please check the Italian blog for important information about the program. deliss.global2.vic.edu.au I am available at GK on WEDNESDAYS and THURSDAYS (I also take Prep Art Thursday afternoons)
Grazie. Signora Portaro J

HOUSE FUN FITNESS DAY
Students from Prep – Grade 6 participated in a fitness morning held at the school on Wednesday 4th March. Students
and teachers dressed up in the House Colours and participated in a range of fitness activities. The day started with all
students warming up to some aerobics led in the courtyard by our fitness guru Mrs Rinaldi.
After the aerobics the students broke off into their grade levels to participate in activities that that ranged from fitness
games such as paper, rock, scissors to skipping, indian file runs, agility ladder relays and games of end ball. There was
a fantastic team spirit amongst the students with the focus being active participation, team work and having fun whilst
getting fit.
DAVID BLACKBURN
THE HOUSE FUN RUN

FUN RUN that will be held on Thursday 26th March. Students will run set
courses in and around the school grounds. The focus is on active participa-
tion whilst representing your house. All students contribute to a team
score in which the HOUSE SHIELD is presented to the winning House at
the end of the day.

COUGHS AND COLDS
With the change of weather comes the dreaded cold and flu season. Even though we encourage student to attend school
daily, there will be times where it is necessary to keep your child at home for their own welfare and that of others
around them.
If your child is unwell, it is important to keep them at home to allow them time to rest and recover. Usually if managed
early, the recovery period is a lot shorter. Sometimes, all your child needs is a couple of days rest. The best way to pre-
vent coughs and colds from spreading is to ensure that your child remains home during contagious periods, practicing
thorough hand washing (with soap) and covering coughs and sneezes.
Please remember to let your child’s classroom teacher know if your child will be or was absent and if they are returning
to school with specific medication that needs to be administered. The Office will also need to be informed.
