The King’s Chronicle
Issue 5 – September/October 2019
We are pleased to announce that the building of our swimming
pool and change rooms is on track and going well!
Estimated time of completion will be the first quarter of 2020.
A section of the top field has been cordoned off
for building to take place.
Please note that no learners will be permitted to access the
building site while the project is underway.
As this area of the school will be a construction site, we ask that
you bear with us through this process of expansion.
This wonderful addition to our school will be completed
before you know it!
Philippians 4:6-7
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer
and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And
the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Spring Festival A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who made the day a success. Every
contribution, from sweets and toys, to service on the day, is appreciated.

a commitment to excellence.

Culture Week
Culture Week is always a highlight for our school.
Every day of the week had a different theme which allowed us to experience and
celebrate the various beautiful cultures that our country has to offer.
The High School ended off their week with a First Additional Language (FAL) day
where we had a visit from renowned South African artist Dozi, who entertained us in
both Afrikaans and IsiZulu!
Pre-Primary
South -Africa Day

Sport
Pre-Primary
Mini Athletics
Everyone agreed that this year’s Pre-
Primary Mini Athletics was full of colour
and smiles. The children thoroughly enjoy
being outdoors and flexing their muscles!
The Grade R learners showed their future
potential in the high jump, long jump and
turbo javelin events while the younger
groups had a lot of fun doing novelty
races.
A firm favourite for the children is watching
their parents throw caution to the wind as
they participate in the parents’ sprints.
This year we had a Tour de France theme
with cyclists starting the day in an exciting
bike race. South Africa was the stage
winner so we proudly celebrated as we
sang our national anthem and waved our
flags in victory!
Thank you to all the parents who took time
off from work to come and enjoy the day
with us. We appreciate your support!
Congratulations to Daniel Brown (Gr6
HP) who has been selected to
represent Johannesburg Metro Chess
at the 2019 South African Junior Chess
Championships at the Birchwood Hotel
& OR Tambo Conference Centre from
the 3rd – 12th January 2020.
Congratulations to the following athletes who qualified for the
Gauteng Cross Country Championship:
Ethan Linch (Gr7 EL)
Malukazi Nyewe (Gr9 FP)
Daniel May (Gr10 RE)
Our school entered 34 athletes for the SACSSA Athletics and
brought back 7 bronze, 6 silver and 5 gold medals!!!

Achievements
Carla Meintjes participated in the Eurodance qualifier competition in
August presented by Talent Africa. She performed an acrobatic
dance solo, a modern dance solo, a tap trio, a contemporary dance
duet, an acrobatic group dance and contemporary group dance for
which she received a gold medal for all. This allows her to
participate at an international competition in November in Serbia this
year and another international competition in Croatia in April 2020.
Congratulations to Tyler Francis (Gr4 BS) and Tadiwa Muzvidziwa
(Gr3 GD) who were selected for the North West Cricket teams.
Our Pre-Primary girls were gifted
with the most beautiful African
dolls to play with. How amazing
that we can celebrate culture in
so many different ways.
