School Uniform Update Limited stocks of our new design polo shirts have now been received at school. These can only be worn from the start of Term 1 next year, but if you would like to pre-order a shirt please complete a uniform order form (available at the office or through our website). Once our Prep 2015 students have had their orders fulfilled then we will be able to issue the balance of our stock before the end of the school year. Any orders still remaining will be filled prior to the start of term next year. PLEASE remember students can still wear their gold shirts for the next TWO years. Village Cinemas Movie Ticket Vouchers We have movie ticket vouchers available for sale at the school office. Adult $14 and Children’s $10.50. They have an expiry date of April 2015 so you can stock up for the school holidays or they make great Christmas presents. Special Lunch Day Our Subway Special Lunch Day orders are due back tomorrow and late returns cannot be accepted. The ordering envelopes were sent home with children last week. Please send your orders back with your children and ensure they are handed to teachers/into the office no later than 3.30pm tomorrow. Thank you, Ellie Hilton.

Scholastic Rewards Thank you to all families who supported the school by purchasing from the Scholastic Book Club pamphlets this year. As a result our commission enabled us to purchase a whole set of guided reading texts for the middle school. 26 titles x 6 copies of each title, plus 2 Teacher Resource Books.

I Sea, I Care Program On November the 20th April, Frankie, Zac.P. and Zac.B. all went to Ricketts Point to celebrate the end of year I Sea, I Care program. They had 4 activities including: a talk with the marine park rangers, looking at bugs that live in sea grass, a BBQ and a presentation. The students had a great experience with the I Sea, I Care program. Our first activity was a talk with the rangers about our marine sanctuaries and all the different sea animals. Our second activity was searching through sea grass trying to find little bugs that live in the ocean. Our third activity was picking up all the litter on the

beach with a man named Andy, he works for the Bayside

City Council and his job is to pick up all the rubbish on

our beaches. We then had a BBQ lunch with all the

ambassadors of the I Sea, I Care program. Our fourth

activity was getting awards with the mayor of the bayside

area. We are very thankful for the I Sea, I Care program

and especially Ms McManus for her effort, taking us and

doing all the preparation.

LEVEL LOW DOWN Prep

We have ALMOST made it through swimming and we are looking forward to the swimming carnival tomorrow and representing our house by wearing our house colours! The Preps have been very responsible at swimming this year, collecting lost items with many of them named. Thank you! Yesterday we ‘stepped up’ to Year 1 to help prepare us for 2015. It is so much fun being in different classrooms and learning Year 1 games. The Preps found it very funny that the Year 6s actually ‘stepped DOWN’ and came back to Prep! As most of you have noticed, the Preps are exhausted and coming home tired and hungry. We wish you a very restful weekend to help recharge the batteries for our last 3 weeks of 2014! We have 2 more circus skills sessions, Beaumaris Christmas Carols, Christmas festivities AND meet the teacher day all before we finish for the year.

Year One We cannot wait for the swimming carnival on Friday. The Year ones are very excited and have been told their House name and colour so they can choose to wear a t-shirt and support their team. The houses are Flinders – Red; Sturt – Blue; Murray – Green; and Mitchell - Yellow. Students are reminded to wear school uniform such as shorts or skirts as well. Yesterday we loved our step up to Year Two where we learnt “Around the World” maths games, then wrote down what we were looking forward to next year.

Year Two We have had another busy week in Year 2. We continue to enjoy swimming and are looking forward to the swimming carnival on Friday! Yesterday we participated in a Step Up session where we learnt more about Year 3. We had fun completing our own ERP (Educational Research Project) all about four things that we like. I’m looking forward to camp in Year 3 because we are going to a reptile place. – Stefan 2K I’m looking forward to camp and sleeping in the same cabin as my friends. – Lulu 2M I will enjoy Hoop Time in Grade 3 because I love basketball – Ollie 2C In Year 3 I am looking forward to doing ERPs. – Scott 2L

Year Three

This week in Year 3 we have celebrated the marriage of the beautiful Miss Anne Sutton to the handsome Jeremy Thompson. We look forward to calling Miss Sutton by her married name in 2015! The students have been practicing very hard during their swimming sessions in preparation for the Swimming Carnival tomorrow! We are looking forward to wearing our school house colours and cheering for our school houses at the carnival!

Year Four Stepping Up Into the Senior School Organisation and practise for the 2015 Interschool Summer Sports Season has begun. The Year 4 and 5 students have had an opportunity over the past four weeks to explore the summer sports on a Friday morning. The process for allocating students to teams has begun. It is a long and complex process as some sports are often much more popular than others. Most importantly it is wonderful to see the engagement of our students in a wide range of sports and demonstrating exemplary sportsmanship out on the field. The second of our Step Up Sessions yesterday was very successful with the Year 4 students working with the current Year 5 teachers. Students discussed the very exciting 2015 Year 5 Camp to Sovereign Hill, which will take place at the beginning of Term 1. All students should have come home with some information regarding the camp dates. On Friday the Year 4 students will once again have the opportunity to work within the 5/6 Learning Space as they listen to prospective 2015 school leaders present their leadership speeches.

Year Five The Year 5’s Buddy books were written and illustrated beautifully! We are extremely proud of the students for their care

and effort. The students can’t wait to share their books with their little buddies. We are sure our new Prep parents will

be asked to read these books many times over the summer holidays.

We have had a very healthy week! On Thursday, Luke, a nutritionist visited us and helped us all identify healthy food

choices. We have also considered the importance of our emotional health, focusing on strategies to support us all to feel

calm and content. We continue our health kick over the next fortnight with Bike Ed and Lifesaving.

This Friday, students in Year 5 have an opportunity to present a leadership speech to the Mrs Skewes, Mr Paleka and the

years 4, 5 and 6 teachers and students. We have explored the leadership roles, discussed effective leadership, the

qualities of a great leader and how to write and deliver a short speech. Although many of the students are

understandably a little nervous, they are also excited about the challenge and opportunity. We wish them all good luck!

Year Six

This week our students have started rehearsing their Christmas carol, All I Want for Christmas is You. We are hoping for a performance to rival Peter Pan in Term 3. Life saving is fast approaching and we are looking forward to the new program being run for Year 6 students. Please ensure payment is made prior to the day so your child can participate in the activities. We have loved reading some of comments made by students in their reports about their final year at Beaumaris Primary School. We would like to share 3 such comments with you below: * I have made some really good friends that I will remember for the rest of my life. I have lots of good memories with lots of people. This has been the best year of school so far. * My friends have been the best. I have loved my experience at BPS and I will remember it for life. *Of all the camps that I have been on this year's was the best. It had a lot of fun activities like surfing, snorkelling and tree climbing. What rings true is how much their time here means to them and how much they are going to miss it.

FROM OUR PARENT CLUB…… Centenary Fete 2015 The date has been confirmed for our Centenary Fete to be held on Sunday 25 October 2015. As it is our centenary year, we are going to make it a good old fashioned style fete which I am sure both the students and parents will love. We have started preliminary planning for the fete but would love some more parents to come on board with the planning and preparation. If you would like to help in whatever capacity you can, please leave your details with the office staff. The Christmas holidays is a great time to clean out all those old books, dvds and toys that you no longer need and early in 2015, we will start asking for donations of these items so if you can keep them aside until next year, we will gladly take them off your hands.

Hello Parents, Students and Teachers, This week at OSHC we have had 'Disco and Dancing Week' after lots of the OSHC kids have been very into dancing and music. We have been lucky enough to have a few group performances and dances in which the kids all worked together to organise these. We have done lots of disco themed arts and craft including photo frames using old CDs and lots of painting. As a winding down of term event we are having a small disco at OSHC in which we will all dance, have a few treats and wear some cool costumes. We have been creating masks, headbands and props to take funny disco pictures to put in our homemade disco frames. We are looking forward to playing a few games at our disco as we have all been enjoying musical statutes all week, especially the older kids :) In preparation for this event we made lots of tasty treats at OSHC including Crunchy Caramels and cookies, a big thank you to Georgia and MJ for helping out with that. We have also been making costumes and props to wear and Emily made a fantastic Peacock headdress and Sienna, Montana and Ruby helped make cute props. This week has been lots of fun! Next Monday, the 1st of December we will be putting up our OSHC Christmas tree and are all looking forward to beginning Christmas arts and Craft! Have a lovely weekend everyone, Jess and Ashley!
