Dear Parents/Carers

This week 6 of our Year 6 pupils competed with 13 other Chelmsford schools in the Maths and English Competitions. These competitions are

challenging! Our Teams were: Harry, Naomi, Harriet and Amy (English), Naomi, Aaron, Tara and Harry (Maths)…..and they won both competitions, which is an amazing achievement. Great congratulations to them – they will now be going forward to the Essex Finals.

Year 4 Public Speaking Competition Our Year 4 Public Speaking Teams are busy practising and learning their speeches. In the meantime, judges have been looking at entries from the 800 or so Year 4s from across the county to see whose poem will be used in the competition by all the teams – and they have selected Poppy’s poem, ‘Voice for a Reason’. Congratulations to Poppy!

3R have been

making Egyptian shadufs to

understand how water was collected from the Nile 5000 years ago… … and 5E have

been learning about the design of our Viking invaders’ long ships, as well as doing

some excellent story writing (this is Esosa’s which is full of impressive description and imaginative ideas).

The licensing of Rev Dan Pierce as a Pioneer Minister for Beaulieu Park is

at 3pm at Beaulieu (near the spherical sculpture), followed by a service and refreshments back at The Bishops’. If you would like to support Dan as he starts his ministry in this area, everyone is welcome.

The ICT/ Animation Club have

bought some new robotic ‘toys’. They are controlled through the

Learnpad computers and can move, make noises, light up in a

variety of ways and even play the xylophone. One of them

visited Little Fingers this week.

Thank you, 3R, for your totally mathematical assembly this week!

Year 4 had a fantastic trip to

Colchester Castle Museum this

week. They travelled back 2000 years, as they toured the

foundations of the Roman Temple which Boudicca

destroyed, and raced Roman chariots.

On Sunday 4th March, Miss French and I are taking part in the Colchester Zoo 10km Stampede and then 2 weeks later I am taking part in the London Landmarks Half

Marathon. I am doing both events to raise money for a charity that I have been supporting for the past 6 years, The Matt Hampson Foundation. In 2005, Matt suffered an accident

whilst training with the England Rugby U21 squad, which changed his life, so Matt set up the foundation to support others who have also been injured through sport. I would love

your prayers and support and if possible a donation to help continue their wonderful work. My Justgiving page is: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sarah-hinchcliffe6
