A master calls his ardent disciple home one day. The
student finds the guru waiting for him in his fenced yard
with four identical puppies. The guru lets them loose and
asks the disciple to catch them all. The energetic puppies
run haphazardly. The chase is chaotic. The disciple tries to
catch one, then the other, and finally sits down exhausted
after failing to catch any. Next, the master puts collars with
numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 on each puppy, and instructs the
disciple to catch them in the ascending order. The disciple
goes sequentially and despite all the other puppies running
around him, he manages to catch each puppy as it tires and
slows down.
The master explains, “We should prioritize our goals and then pursue them non-stop.” The disciple learns the value of focus and perseverance.
The next day, when the disciple reaches the school, he
notices commotion. Earlier, the students had discovered
puppies running around in the campus. Each puppy had a
numbered collar. They had managed to round up puppies
with numbers 1, 2, 3, and 5, and were now frantically
searching for the puppy with the number 4 collar. The
disciple smiles and wonders—why did the master replace the
number 4 with number 5 on the fourth puppy?
The master educates the disciple, “Some goals are like a mirage—we should know when to stop.” This time, the disciple learns the value of defocusing and letting go.
Sincerely, Arun Nathani, CEO & MD www.arunnathaniblog.com
Focus on the goal is important, but so is defocusing from the
ambient noise. Both go hand in hand. So much so, that we
often get confused over which goals to pursue, and which
ones to relinquish. How then do we differentiate between
our right and wrong choices? Perhaps we should read the
story again; there may be a clue lurking between the lines…
In both the incidents, the approach is the same—to catch all the puppies till the pecking order is complete. However, the outcome is reverse. In the first incident, the disciple’s approach keeps on “reducing” the chaos with each captured puppy. In the second incident, the students’ approach keeps on “increasing” the chaos because of the missing fictitious puppy.
Simply put, the key lies in the direction of the chaos. If our
focus—our insistence on order—is streamlining everyone’s
life around us, then our actions are in the right direction.
However, if our objectives—our obsession with order—
are messing up everyone’s life, it’s time to withdraw.
This principle applies to both personal and
professional relationships.

FINDING ORDER IN CHAOS
Dear Reader,
Cybage has turned 23!
We’ve crossed yet another milestone in our journey, gathering rich experiences and celebrating positive changes. After all, change is the only constant, right? Every page of CybageTimes unravels the action-packed past quarter.
To begin with, CEO Arun Nathani shares insights on Finding Order in Chaos. Something that we should strive to imbibe in our lives—personally and professionally.
Moving along, effervescent Jesse Pujji—CEO & Co-founder, Ampush, and our esteemed client—shares his experience on marketing, a domain that has moved from ‘mad men’ to ‘math men’. Further, in his message for our young Cybagians, he talks about how hard work can never be substituted with anything and that we should try to be the ‘X factor’ in our own career.
The last quarter witnessed one of the major milestones in Cybage’s growth journey—the appointment of Greg Butterfield and Walter Mastelinck on Cybage’s newly-formed Board of Directors. This move underpins the company’s strong growth momentum.
This edition also gives you a glimpse of some major news from the organization, right from hosting the Mayor of the city of Frankfurt and a high-profile German delegation at our HQ, to our strategic partnership with Kale Logistics, and winning various accolades. It indeed has been a roller coaster ride of celebrations for Cybage!
Work-life balance is what Cybage has always laid emphasis on and it is at the roots of the organization. CybageTimes in conversation with Technical Evangelist–Roshan Shah, shares insights on how he strikes a fine balance between work and life through sports. He encourages readers to learn how sports can impart philosophies of life that cannot be experienced otherwise.
Moving on, the annual Sales Meet held at Princeton, USA, unveiled a new narrative on Cybage’s vision—the introduction of Cybage’s ‘Three Pronged Value Proposition’ by Avinash Lele, President, Cybage, Inc.
Come July and the entire Cybage family comes together to ring in the corporate anniversary. The second edition of our flagship event, CybageRun, was a blockbuster hit across Pune, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, and USA! Read along and find out how Cybagians not only participated in the run, but also celebrated the anniversary in their own special ways. Our compassionate Cybagians ran for a cause because at Cybage, social responsibility is looked at beyond just compliance. On the CSR front, our volunteers championed the cause of education, which is reflected in the testimonials of CybageKhushboo beneficiaries, and supported women in rural areas on their journey to entrepreneurship.
We wrap up this eventful edition by covering various endeavors of Cybagians—travel stories, winning laurels in various sports, and rooting for their favorite teams at Cybage’s annual Box Cricket Tournament.
Happy reading, folks!

Jesse Pujji, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder at Ampush, is an expert in the ‘direct to consumer’ revolution, where new and old companies are disrupting legacy distribution channels.
He is an active investor and advisor to several startups. Ampush partners with high-growth companies and Fortune 500 brands to build and execute marketing strategies that grow revenue and acquire customers at scale. Ampush develops proprietary, purpose-built technology to optimize the entire marketing funnel, from impression to paying customer. Ampush is a preferred partner of Facebook, Google, and virtually all major digital ad platforms. Some of the companies that Ampush partners with include Supercell, Lyft, and Esurance.
Winning Partnerships In the world of digitalization,
how has the role of a CEO
evolved?
CEOs now have to work even
harder to focus themselves
and their organizations on
the top priorities that matter.
All the information available in
'real time' can actually be a bad
thing because it increases the noise vs
signal gap.
What are the major breakthroughs that you
envision in your industry?
We believe that marketing has gone from ‘mad men’
to ‘math men’. Acquiring customers from marketing
efforts has become strategic, quantitative, and analytical,
creating an entire new line of companies and industries.
Machine learning, AI, etc. are not far away.
What role do partners like Cybage play in contributing to
Ampush’s success?
Partners like Cybage enhance our business tremendously.
They don't just help us focus on our ‘core’ skills by supporting
‘less core’ areas, they are actually strategic partners who guide
us in developing unique and strategic technology.
What are the three main characteristics you look for while
building a team?
Assuming ‘smarts’ are a commodity at this point, I look for:
A message for young Cybagians: Everyone's advice is colored by their own experience, so don't take it as gospel. You can always be the X factor in your career. Hard work never goes unrewarded.

1. Tenacity: People who push hard until they win.
2. Adaptability: People who drive change and focus on the right stuff.
3. Fun: People who do not take themselves too seriously.
Is there any social cause you are particularly close to and/or
support and the reason why?
I support several Sikh-American organizations that support
Sikh rights and education in the US.
Given the fast-paced environment of your industry, how do
you maintain your work-life balance?
I stick to a strict schedule. On weekdays, I get home by 6.30
PM. I don’t work on Saturdays. I make sure I’m prioritizing
ruthlessly when working.
Tell us a little something about your family.
I have two awesome kids—a son who is two years and seven
months old, and a daughter who is almost one. My wife is a
smart, strong, and funny woman.

illustrious career
spans 25 years, during

successful businesses from the ground
up. He not only founded Transics, but also led
the company’s transformation from a local Belgian

new heights of success. Currently, Walter serves
as the Co-Owner and CEO of Creaplan, a
Belgian market leader for the design and
construction of exhibition stands,
displays, and interiors.
In his role at Cybage, Walter’s
focus will be on reinforcing
the company’s vision, strategic
direction, and achievement
of business goals.
A renowned software industry veteran, Greg’s stellar years
of experience span across multiple executive, board,
and advisory roles.
As the Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO at Altiris,
Greg guided the company to eight consecutive years of
growth, which included 11 acquisitions and a successful IPO

Greg being feted with the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of
the Year Award. In 2006, he was invited as the Technology
Pioneer at the World Economic Forum. Greg joined
Symantec through the company’s acquisition of Altiris and
held the Group President rank for its Servers and
Storage business units.

high-potential ventures into market leaders. For Cybage, he
brings with him an impressive wealth of business
experience, which will help us to further
strengthen our business operations and build
on our market success.

long-term vision, strategy, and business
growth as Cybage is poised to capitalize
on its cutting-edge technological
capabilities and the business
opportunities that will
arise in future.

Gregory Shafiro, our newest Sales team member, has
known Cybage for more than five years as a client. He was
first introduced to Cybage as a potential outsourcing
partner when he was an Offshore Production Manager
at ThomasNet, a publishing company. He has played
a key role in shaping the company’s production
process and workflows that are still followed
today. Later, while working with a startup as a
co-founding CTO, he found another opportunity
to partner with Cybage on an innovative project.
Gregory worked closely with the Cybage
development team to create a revolutionary on-
demand babysitting application platform. Over the
years, Gregory continued to have a great relationship
with Cybage, and in early 2018, while working as CTO
for The NextStreet, this relationship blossomed from
a strategic partner to an employee. At Cybage, Gregory
will be concentrating on new business acquisition across
all verticals.

| We would like you to
talk about any one of your
assignments at Cybage that
you are really proud of.
Servicing the IT industry requires
being abreast of the execution state
during the entire life cycle. Cybage started
building a data capturing system, however,
back in 2005, there were no tools to capture
the integration of business expectation, processes,
resource capability, and automation for the delivery
of technological solutions. It was an honor to be a part
of the initiators for achieving ALM maturity. Cybage’s ALM
maturity system considers visibility, transparency, efficiency,
collaboration, and governance in project execution. The
maturity system consideration helped me envision the future,
adapt to changes, strategize, and respect discipline. In 2013,
Cybage presented the methodology of “using TFS to attain
project excellence”, as a case study during the TFS launch
event hosted by Microsoft in Pune. From participating in
management discussions to devising solutions in the eight
areas of ALM, to bringing a platform to maturity at Cybage—are
all unforgettable experiences.
| How have you evolved as a professional? According to you
what are the common factors that contribute towards the
growth of an organization and its people?
During the early stages of my career, I focused on assignments
based on my aspirations, but very soon, I realized that the
industry context should be given more importance. With some
introspection, I was able to focus on accelerating the value
addition part as well.
All organizations (big or small) face the same kind
of issues, but management of the fundamental pillars
(people, process, and product)
makes all the difference.
1) People: What is the relative
importance of each individual in the
organization? How good is the people-
centric environment?
2) Process: What are the system-driven actions to
bring equilibrium among processes?
3) Product: How effectively is the organization utilizing the
capabilities of the product?
In my opinion, like Cybage, if any organization manages the
aforementioned three pillars with a strong, internal system-
driven approach, it would contribute greatly towards the
growth of the organization.
| What is the one piece of advice you would like to give to
your team and Cybagians in general?
Participating in recreational activities such as sports,
cultural events, and yoga should be an integral part of every
Cybagian’s life. Such activities impart those philosophies of life
which cannot be experienced otherwise.
| What’s your Monday motivation at work?
I see the weekend as an opportunity to gather motivational
thoughts through books, enthusiasm through family, and
strength through relaxation. This makes me look forward to
coming to work, and bringing about change. For me, work
in itself is an opportunity, and a source of professional and
personal satisfaction.
| Tell us about family. Also, how does a typical weekend look
like for you and your family?
My wife Shital is a continuous realization of love and values.
Param, my elder son, helps me to be innovative. Nived, my
younger son, motivates me to be active and creative. Our
weekends are filled with fun and debating on the topic of
the day.
Insightful Interactions| Tell us about your professional avatars—from your first job to your current innings at Cybage.
The dawn of my professional journey helped me comprehend how ‘ideas were brought to life’. I started understanding the value of focusing on the horizontals (principles) versus the verticals (depth and means). Gaining this maturity of valuation enabled me to perceive and define solutions to IT problems.
Differences in expectations based on scale (small, medium, enterprise) of the IT industry taught me to choose a suitable technology stack. Today, the nuances in competitive technology aiming to provide a solution to the same problem make me evangelize before providing the right solution out of the many options.
Professional avatars: Ideas: Bring ideas to life Valuation: Balance between verticals and horizontals Solution: Providing working solutions Specification: Based on the maturity of the company Evangelize: Technology stack for the solution

Google project team, Pune
iCrossing Toyota project team, Gandhinagar
This year, Cybage, on the occasion of its 23rd anniversary,
began the celebrations by organizing the second edition of
CybageRun–Run a Mile, Educate a Child on Sunday, July 15. The
run was organized to celebrate the success stories of numerous
deserving but economically challenged children, who, with the
support of CybageKhushboo, have made promising careers and secured
a bright future for themselves and their families.
With close to 2,000 individuals from across Pune, Gandhinagar, and Hyderabad
participating in the run, it was a sight to behold! The eventful morning at Pune
commenced with a power-packed Zumba warm-up session by Team Fitastic,
which got the crowd all pepped up for the run. After Arun and Ritu Nathani
flagged off the 10K and 5K runs respectively, it was heartening to see
everyone—from teenagers to the elderly—put their heart first and
run for this noble cause. The pre-run Zumba sessions held for our
runners at our centers in Gandhinagar and Hyderabad lifted
their spirits. What was more astounding to witness was the
enthusiasm of the spectators, who cheered on the runners
and motivated them to reach the finish line and achieve
the ultimate goal. The event successfully came to
an end with an after-run cool down stretching
session followed by runners tapping their feet
to lively tracks.
As a surprise this year, our folks at
Gandhinagar held a heartwarming flash
mob depicting the motive of the run.

CSR
While education is a journey, employment is the destination. In the past quarter, CybageAsha provided a platform to the women of its adopted villages to start their own agri-aligned businesses, while CybageKhushboo helped its beneficiaries successfully cross the bridge from academia to industry.
CybageAsha undertakes several initiatives with the aim of
helping its beneficiary villages become self-reliant and to
curb the rural-to-urban migration. This summer, farmers
from the beneficiary villages of Laptalwadi and Pingori
reported severe losses incurred while selling their stock
of tomatoes in the market. Due to a lack of competitive
prices and preservation facilities, they were forced to see
their produce rot away. CybageAsha analyzed the problem
in detail and decided to educate the women of the village
to channelize their existing food preservation techniques
to manufacture and market tomato sauce, pickles, etc.
CybageAsha, in association with Kasturba Mahila Khadi
Gramodyog Vidyalay, conducted five-day training sessions
on food processing at Laptalwadi and sauce-making
training at Pingori, both in Pune’s Purandar taluka. Since
agriculture is the only source of income for the villagers,
this training aimed to help the villagers set up their own
agri-aligned business thereby creating a sustainable
source of income. These sessions enabled over 60
beneficiaries to learn new skills.
CybageAsha’s quest to assist the villagers in leveraging
their existing resources to earn some extra income and
avoid food wastage was welcomed by one and all.
At Laptalwadi, the training
was aimed at teaching the
beneficiaries to prepare fruit
syrup, pickles (mango, lime,
bitter gourd, and chilli), fruit
jelly, jam, and two different
types of tomato sauces.
At Pingori, the five-day training covered the process of making
tomato sauce from raw materials, packaging, and marketing
strategies to develop it as a business model.

AUTHORS OF THEIR OWN DESTINY
CybageKhushboo is proud to share the journey of its beneficiaries, who, with the power of education and sheer perseverance, have beaten the odds to build a future for themselves and their families. Goa is not defined only by the ‘susegad’ (relaxed and enjoying life to the fullest) attitude it evokes, its long coastline also offers
unmatched potential for interesting activities like snorkeling. For folks who don’t know how to swim, Monkey Island is the best

expedition. Our group of 9 friends, comprising 7
Cybagians, set off from sultry Hyderabad to the cold
heights of Kullu.
Kheerganga (2,960 meters) is the last inhabited
village towards the Pin valley via the Pin-Parvati pass.
It remains snow-covered during winters and only gets
temporary settlement during the summers. Barshaini
is the last motorable point; it’s 12 km away from
Kheerganga via Rudranag, by foot. Our most prized
memory was trekking on this trail at night.
The combined effect of the slippery trail, the
moonless night, the mist, and the knowledge that
this area is a natural habitat to bears, snakes, and
leopards, made us tremble with fear.
As we persisted with the trek, we stopped by villages
to replenish our water stock, and for piping-hot
Maggi, which cost a staggering Rs. 70 per plate.
On reaching the Kheerganga Point, we pitched tents
for the night, with a campfire to keep us warm in
the chilly weather.
The next morning, we took a refreshing bath in the
hot springs and visited the shrine of Lord Ganesh.
The beautiful landscape left us in awe and we
pledged our hearts to this place forever.

Rohtang Pass lies at an altitude of 3,978 meters above sea level and is famous
for its picturesque views of the valley and various hidden waterfalls. Whereas
Solang Valley, located 2,560 meters above sea level and also known as
‘Snow Point’, is famous for hosting various winter adventure sports such
as skiing, parachuting, and paragliding. The Hidimbadevi temple, built
in 1553, is situated atop a hillock and surrounded
by a thick deodar forest. Originating from the
Himalayas is the river Beas which offers various
camping spots and water sports.
Mall Road is a local shopping site to
buy winter clothing, pashmina shawls,
dresses, and much more. Feel free to
bargain as much you can.
The Gadhan Thekchhokling Gompa
Monastery is located in the heart
of Manali, close to Mall Road.
It was built by Buddhist
refugees and offers an
escape from the humdrum
realities of life.
For adventure addicts,
rafting in Kullu covers
a 14-km stretch of the
mighty River Beas, with
the journey commencing
from Piri and ending at
Jhiri. A word of caution:
do not ignore the safety
instructions provided by
the guide.
Apart from the snowy peaks and lush
greenery, Manali also offers an unbeatable arena for paragliding at Solang Valley.
To sum up, the unending mountain ranges covered with snow gave us a cozy
feeling of being in the midst of nature. The River Beas flowing with you along the
journey is something that will stay on in our memories forever. The honest and
welcoming villagers taught us how to live happily without high-tech amenities.

Adventure-loving Cybagians packed their bags to explore the lush greenery and spellbinding views of North Vietnam and the beauty of pine and oak forests of Kullu and Manali in Himachal. Here’s what they have to say about their experiences.
NORTH VIETNAM
ROUTE TO PARADISE
North Vietnam has it all! Majestic
mountains, serene rivers, and bustling
streets. For a tourist, Vietnam can
be divided into four zones—the
northernmost province of Ha Giang
which shares its border with China,
the beautiful valley of Sapa, the
capital city Hanoi, and the mystical
Ha Long Bay.
Sapa, a trekker’s paradise, houses the tallest
mountain in Vietnam—Mount Fansipan. Get a ride from world’s longest,
non-stop, three-rope cable car to the summit—it’s a ‘once in a
lifetime’ experience!
Hanoi offers you the chance to experience the urban Vietnam—buzzing
markets, inimitable two-wheeler traffic, appealing architecture, and the city’s
Old Quarter with a historical relevance.
A trip to North Vietnam feels incomplete without
experiencing the legendary Ha Long Bay. This
landscape is known for its huge limestone
‘karsts’ that can be admired both from the
beach or a boat. Tourists get to choose
between cruises or junk boats that
offer a single night or multiple.
However, that’s not all.
You get the chance to go kayaking
through the natural caves and
explore the corners of various
islands, sample delicious and
fresh seafood served on
cruises, enjoy the karaoke
nights—all leading to
an unforgettable trip.
