Join the St. Mel

Music Programs this Spring!

GRADES 2nd–4th: All students are invited to join Cherub Choir. There is no audition necessary. This group will work on a variety of styles of music, build vocal strength and awareness, and have lots of fun! It’s a great way to start learning the joy of performing. Contact Mrs. Penney [email protected]) for more information. Come check it out!

Weekly Rehearsals: GIRLS & BOYS Tuesdays 3:15-4:30pm

New members can join Cherub Choir through Tuesday, January 31st. Just come to one of our rehearsals and start singing!

St. Mel Praise and Worship Liturgical Choir, "Joyful Noise," is a new group starting this year! This group is open to all students in Grades 3rd-8th and no audition is necessary. We will work on a wide range of liturgical music - from Gregorian chant, church hymns and stand-ards, to contemporary praise and worship music. Rehearsals will be held during the school day (1st period every Tuesday). Students will miss class time, therefore director, homeroom teacher, and parent approval are required in order to join this group. New members can join Joyful Noise through Tuesday, January 31st. Contact Mrs. Penney for information about how to join this group.

"Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth; make a

loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise!" - Psalm 98

Contact Mrs. Penney ([email protected]) for more information on any of these programs.

Open 5th-8thgrade students by audition or invitation only. Designed for students who show a high level of commitment to the arts and want to hone their musical and vocal skills, this group will work on music theory, note reading, vocal tech-nique, harmony singing, and solo singing—to build a strong foundation needed for high school drama/choral programs. Students interested in joining will need to prepare an excerpt of a song that best shows off their vocal ability, be able to maintain a musical line while hearing a harmony line, and have shown strong participation in choir and/or music classes. This group will work on advanced level harmony pieces in a varied styles, including some 'a cappella' pieces (think Pentatonix), and work towards competitive singing festivals.

Weekly Rehearsals: GIRLS & BOYS Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:20-7:50am

Contact Mrs. Penney if your child is interested and for more information.
