The most important Att i tude: Humil i ty.
Psalm 139:23-24; Ephesians 4:1-2; 1 Peter 5:1-9
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift
you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
The principle attitude for the Christian life is humility. If we commit to the
precepts of His Word, then this most precious attitude of humility shouldflow from us. Being humble minimizes arrogance, removes pride, and makes
us a person who is pleasing to Christ. This means we become a person that
He can use—fully and powerfully. It is our fallen nature and weaknesses
that cause us to think we are better than we are, which, in turn, causes us
to strive to lift ourselves above others and God. Such an attitude places us
in a useless and destructive place before our Lord and others. On the other
hand, humility enables us to recognize our indebtedness to God, and puts off
whatever blocks our closeness to Him. It is admitting to others, and most
importantly to God, that He is responsible for our salvation and our achieve-
ments. Humbleness will enable us to be teachable people, willing to have a
good attitude of submission and servant hood. The distinguishing mark in uswill be an attitude that comes from our confession of sin and remembrance
of how Christ served and saved us!
Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. Proverbs 3:7
Being humble means being able to share with one another beyond our own
agenda and needs. Being willing to cooperate creates an environment of
trust and encouragement in relationships. In a church, people are drawn to
join and belong where neither pride nor arrogance are present. When we are
selfish and stingy with our sharing, an atmosphere of distrust is created.Who wants to be a part of that? How we react to the non-Christian environ-
ment will distinguish us as Christ-like or hypocritical; whom do you think our
God desires? Whom do you think will be contagious with the faith?
Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up . James
4:10

TOPIC: DEVELOPING A GOOD ATTITUDE:
Attitude is the gauge that shows God, others, and you the level and quality of fruit
rom the work an d ways of God being e xhibited in you. Your att itude will be the dis-
play case for who Christ is in you, and you may be the only indicator a nd de mon-
strator of our Lord some one will ever get to see. Attitude is also how you ap proach
others with your outlook on life, your manners, your posture, your feelings, your
mindset, your way of thinking, and your way of behaving. It all comes from Christ’swork in you. Now, ask yourself, “How is this going and coming about in times of
uncertainty and stress? How does your attitude impact your daily life?” When we
have a good attitude, Christ can better use us, and others can see His work, His
creation of a master piece in us!
The Chinese word cha racte r for stress is a combina tion of two words, da nger a nd
opportunity. This great illustration for us, as all problems and stresses can be re-
fined into both categories; potential danger and potential opportunity. Attitude is
the one word which encompassed on what side of the coin you will be. This week
we are going to look at different angles of attitude and how the bible can help us
develop a good attitude.
