All the Christmas performances were special with the Year 1's battling against chicken pox and the Year 2 performance seeing some of the best dancing ever seen on stage at
Norwood. Once again the Key Stage 2 Carol Concert proved to be a lovely evening and enjoyed by everyone as a terrific community event. I would like to thank Reverand
Knight and everyone at Leyland Road Methodist Church for making us so welcome. Our
Year 6 children are demonstrating real maturity and a great attitude, which was commented upon by one of our visitors who is training the children to be Lunchtime
Play Leaders. She spoke very enthusiastically and with a lot of pride about their attitude
and their enthusiasm, which she has not previously experienced in any other school she has worked in. I am also delighted with our new and much improved topics, which have been welcomed with much enthusiasm by the children and staff alike. it has also been wonderful to note how our focus on Maths this year has seen interest and energy for
this subject grow and Mathletics does appear to be a welcome addition to our growing resources. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the staff for their hard work,
enthusiasm and support for the school, which goes beyond the 9 o'clock to 3.15
schedule that everyone appears to think teachers do. Here at Norwood we are very lucky to have such a hard-working and dedicated staff, which is clear to be seen from
the number of activites that are run for the children, the number of extra special events
organised and their participation in the whole life of the school. Therefore I would like to wish them a relaxing Christmas and also to send our best wishes to Mrs. Baron, who continues on the road to recovery after her treatment for cancer. We hope to have her
back before February half-term.
My final wishes are that all the children and parents enjoy the time over the Christmas holidays together. May we get enough snow to enjoy and that it disappears as quickly
as it arrives.
Happy Christmas!
So we reach the end of another term at Norwood and on looking back it has been a really exciting and busy
term again and I am delighted with the way the year has started out. The Reception children have settled
into their new surroundings very smoothly, which
reached a new high last week when they performed their "Twelve Days of Christmas" in front of a packed
and enraptured audience.

Leyland Road Carol Concert
On Tuesday 7th December, KS2 delivered a fantastic carol service. Singing club opened the concert with two great songs getting everybody into the Christmas spirit. Yr 4 took to the stage next singing their hearts out to everyone. Before long,
Years 5 and 6 did a fantastic rendition of A Christmas Carol starring, Scrooge, Jacob Marley, Mr. Fezziwig and Co. Next, Yr 3 told the story of Christmas through verse.
It was a wonderful night and everyone enjoyed themselves.
We hope the following years will be even better.

Year 6 Diwali Day
Last Thursday, Year 6 children celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali by making lanterns out of recycled jars and tissue paper. At
the end of the day, the children stayed in school until it had gone dark and took their lanterns in to the playground to light. We also
set off some sky lanterns and watched them float off in to the
distance. With all the lights gleaming in the distance, it was a magical and exciting night. Mrs Coleman and Mr Postlethwaite
would like to thank all parents and teachers that came to help. We
had great fun. Children celebrated the Hindu Festival of Diwali by making lanterns out of recycled jars and tissue paper.
Up to half term these children’s behaviour really stood out and they reached the pot of gold:
If your child reached the pot of gold last term but their name doesn’t appear on the list above please mention this to the class teacher.
