Off the back of winnning the UK National Champs, Bryceland dominates with an emphatic win at Windham.Round 6 saw the Downhill World Cup bandwagon pull up at Windham, NY. After finishing 2nd at Monte Saint Anne, Josh Bryceland’s current form has astounded everyone. Not that we doubted the ability or speed he has to win races, or better still contend for the overall lead, just that we were waiting for him to put it all together on a final run. This season he has done just that. Windham was his 2nd win of the World Cup and as we go to print no one has won two. Laced with two 2nd place finishes, Bryceland has shown what he can do and is in the form of his life. His recent transition from 26” to 650B seems to be paying off, this is the second race he has now ridden 650b wheels and its the second race he has won. As an Enve athlete we take special interest/bias towards Bryceland, but there is no denying he is the fastest man on the World Cup circuit at the moment. nick cox

fullyarmedwithenveWith what has been an amazing season Josh Bryceland now stands top of the pile.Santa Cruz were one of the last few teams in the DH World Cup to still be running 26” wheels. With the recent launch of the new V-10 650B it has put an end to that. With re-jigged geometry, the new V-10 is the bike that Bryceland has used to conquerthe UK National Champs and two World Cup stages (so far). Combined with Enve DH bars, seatpost, direct mount stem and the M-Series 90/10 650B wheels, it is one of the most advanced and best looking bikes currently flying down mountains on the World Cup circuit. Soon to be available to the public... nick cox

After what has been a truly remarkable year, Enve athlete and Santa Cruz Syndicate rider Josh Bryceland wins the DH World Cup overall. Everyone here at Saddleback has been following his amazing progress and blistering pace this year. We are all super proud and privileged to be a part of this achievement with Enve.

Congratulations Josh! So begins the year of the Rat! nick cox

it’s pretty dangerous working here at saddleback, dangerous for my bank balance. with the constant influx of products which stored directly below me in the warehouse it’s hard not to wander down and purchase items ‘that i really need’. first on my wish-list has to be the awesome looking new road helmet from smith optics. the overtake has got the office in a frenzy deciding which colour matches their kit the best, for me its got to be black helmet with black koroyd, the stealth look.

this month nick cox shares with us the product he dreams of owning.

The Saddleback Sodbury Sportive combines amazing scenery, good organisation and a mix of distances for all abilities. Here at Saddleback, we are passionate about everything cycling but especially those events taking place in our local area. On 17th August, we were once again very proud sponsors of the Sodbury Sportive. This local event, ran by Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club, offered a 30, 60 or 100-mile route, taking in the best that the area has to offer. Joining the 900 riders tacking the various distances were 2 of Saddleback’s own, Nick Cox and Emily Carr. Nick was taking on his first century ride, and stormed around in just over 6 hours. Emily was back on the bike after a pretty hefty crash the week before and completed the 100 miles too. Fuelled by excellent feed stops and encouraging marshals, the Sodbury Sportive is growing every year and enjoyed by all. We are looking forward to supporting and riding this great event next year and beyond. emily carr

x“Considering how young, relatively speaking, slopestyle is, the level of the riding and profile of events such as Red Bull Joyride is remarkable. Semenuk’s pretty much writing his own history book; three wins in a row is incredible and it’s hard to see who’s going to step up and stop him.”ric mclaughlin, editor at large redbull.com/bike

This years Red Bull Joyride podium is full of Smith athletes with Brandon Semenuk on top for a 3rd time in a row.Crankworx Whistler, Canada 16th August, the Red Bull Joyride begins. With a great deal of anticipation the best freestyle riders in the world gather for one of the most prestigious crowns on the circuit. Names such as Logan Peat, Brett Rheeder, Anthony Messere and Brandon Semenuk prepare to do battle, battle against fellow Smith athletes and friends. The stage is set for Semenuk to win his 3rd Joyride in a row but stiff competition by means of Brett Rheeder stands in the way. With Rheeder’s first run being an unbelievable mix of tricks and style, the gauntlet is dropped and Semenuk has to be at his best. Semenuk’s first run sends him into first place with a score of 96.00, as everyone gets ready for their second run, Rheeders doesn’t end well as he crashes his landing and Semenuk is crowned champion on the strength of his first run. The podium this year saw a Canadian one, two and three, but also saw a podium dominated by Smith athletes. Smith Optics really do have the best riders in the world, here’s the proof. nick cox

Since Donny popped in to see us and left with his shopping trolley filled with all things Enve and Smith, he now stands top of the UKGE leaderboard.Enduro participation is up and growing at a fast rate. To turn what many people would call just a normal weekend ride with friends into a race scene and discipline, was a genius move. Now with bike manufacturers falling over themselves to create Enduro specific bikes the scene has never been stronger. The UK Gravity Enduro series is testament to this and is why we decided to get involved by becoming one of the headline sponsors with Enve. This was however, the tip of the iceberg. Neil Donoghue, who is an ex-downhill racer and bike skills instructor, was on our radar as someone we wanted to be an ‘ambassador’ for Smith and Enve. So before the start of season he dropped by and we lavished many Enve and Smith gifts upon him. Now sitting at the top of the UKGE leaderboard and with a real chance of winning the overall series, everyone here at Saddleback is stoked to be part of the series and involved with an athlete that we would love to see win the overall (no presure Donny). With one round left, Grizdale, to fight out, here’s to Donny claiming the crown. nick cox

1. ordnance survey mapsOk, not just a cycling invention but I’m a map geek and planning rides can almost be as enjoyable as the ride itself. 2. tubeless tyresLess punctures, less pressure, more grip. 3. modern, powerful led lights (exposure for me)Allow you to ride off road almost as quick as daytime and make winter riding enjoyable. 4. chris king componentsLast for years, move from bike to bike and look amazing.

5. the 29er wheelIf I could only own one bike it would be a 29er Hardtail. Fast, nimble and cover ground like nothing else.

ok fair enough i have a pair of these already and they’re are the best goggles i’ve ever used. no fogging, super comfortable and sit perfectly with troy lee d2. so why would i want another set? Quite simply i’m a sucker for colour and design, this is a curse i carry as a graphic designer. the new colours for 2015 are amazing with my favourite being the ‘blue burnout’. the only problem now is i have to go out and get some new riding kit to match them - life is hard.

envefieldcyclesField Cycles and Enve get together to produce this beautyENVE asked Sheffield’s Field Cycles to build something special for their show stand. They jumped at the chance to join the elite list of frame-builders that have appeared on ENVE Composites stands – This was the result. Fillet brazed with Reynolds 853 and Columbus Life, with a Tandem ‘boom-tube’ as the top tube. The oversized tubes provide a stiff frame and the perfect canvas to apply a vibrant paint design that Field is well known for. Built up using ENVE’s incredible carbon rims, forks and finishing kit, the stiff & precise ride qualities of the frame translate through the whole bike – producing a Bicycle that looks fast stood still. harry harrison

NFTO rider, Adam Blythe wins the Ride London-Surrey armed with Castelli, Bont, Enve and Stages.Adam Blythe took the biggest win of his career by winning the Ride London-Surrey Classic. Infront of packed crowds on The Mall and being watched by millions on live television Adam out-sprinted Team Sky’s Ben Swift to take a famous victory for NFTO Pro Cycling. The earlier freak weather had made conditions very difficult for the 150 riders. All of which came from a mix of World-Tour, Pro-Continental and UCI-Continental teams across the globe. Adam had looked strong all day and had made a move of 11 riders after Team Sky had put the pressure on the peloton as the race hit the circuits of Dorking. The break of 11 included Adam’s former team-mate Phillipe Gilbert (BMC) , Ben Swift (Team Sky), Julian Alaphillipe (Omega Pharma Quick-Step) and Kristijan Koren (Cannondale) and despite attacks from Gilbert on the final run into the finish it was these five riders who would contest the sprint finish. Blythe went early knowing that he still had something in the tank and he polished off a superb tactical ride to take the win. becky Frewing
