We hope you enjoy the first newsletter for 2018. All regular groups are due to recommence in February and would warmly wel- come new comers! We would be happy to discuss with you the most appropriate group for you to attend. Thank you to all who completed the Carers SA Western Metro 2017 survey and Carer Group Evaluation forms as your feedback is much appreciated. It will assist us greatly with planning the program for 2018. ** Congratulations to Chloe, winner of the 2017 Survey lucky draw ** In February there will be a Carer Evening Out which is a carer dinner followed by the Fringe Show Cirque Africa’. This will, once again, be a great opportunity for working carers to meet other carers too! In March we will enjoy a Dinner and a Quiz night . Please also note the Ballroom Dancing Demonstration is in March! April brings with it a Group Evening Retreat with pre-show dinner and The Wizard of OZ- see back of calendar insert for further information and eligibility criteria. Priority will be given to those carers who have not had an opportunity to attend a group or individual retreat in 2017/18. Please see the eligibility criteria. Please note that transport for all events is limited and priority will be given to those carers who do not have access to a vehicle or public transport. When booking in for events please advise as soon as possible if you can no longer attend so we can offer your place to another carer. Please remember to look after yourself during the hot weather. If you feel unwell please contact your local GP or telephone Healthdirect Australia on 1800 022 222. Please call 000 immediately if you think you need an ambulance. Issue 1 — February/March 2018

Dear carers,

Happy New Year! We hope you enjoy the first newsletter for 2018.

All regular groups are due to recommence in February and would warmly wel-come new comers! We would be happy to discuss with you the most appropriate group for you to attend.

Thank you to all who completed the Carers SA Western Metro 2017 survey and Carer Group Evaluation forms as your feedback is much appreciated. It will assist us greatly with planning the program for 2018.

In February there will be a Carer Evening Out which is a carer dinner followed by the Fringe Show ‘Cirque Africa’. This will, once again, be a great opportunity for working carers to meet other carers too!

Aboriginal Carer Support Update

Aboriginal Carer Support Groups continue to

meet on the first and third Monday of each month

from 10am-1.30pm

On Monday 5th February, the Aboriginal Carer

Support Group meeting will include an

information session from the Dementia Australia

Brain Hub. Carers will learn about brain health,

memory changes, Dementia risk education,

understanding types of Dementia and what

supports are available.

An Aboriginal Group Retreat is currently being

planned for March 2018. More information to

come!
