A Legacy to be continued...

In our wildest dream we never thought that we would be

covering this news in our first edition of Renata Insight.

We mourn the demise of Mr. Syed Humayun Kabir, Chairman of

Renata Limited and Founder of the SAJIDA Foundation, who

passed away on July 7th, 2015, He was 83 years old.

Mr. Humayun Kabir was among the country’s most respected

business professionals whose career had long been associated

with leading multinational and local organizations. He graduated

in Chemistry from the University of Dhaka and studied

Pharmacology at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

He was the Chairman & Managing Director of Pfizer Laboratories

(Bangladesh) Ltd, which later turned into Renata Ltd, and had

been its Chairman for almost 22 years until his passing.

He leaves behind a legacy of grassroots development work

carried out by the SAJIDA Foundation, an organization to serve

the poor in peri-urban areas which started out as a 25th

anniversary gift to his wife, Ms. Sajida Humayun Kabir. The

organization was founded in 1993 and is strongly focusing on

empowering the mother to empower the family.

He was the founding member and former Chairperson of the

BRAC governing body who held board-level associations with

BRAC since 1972.

Mr. Humayun Kabir served as Chairman and President of the

Metropoliton Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Bangladesh

Employers Association, Foreign Investors Chamber of commerce

and Industries, American Bangladesh Economic Forum, and

Transparency International Bangladesh.

He was also a board member of banks, insurance company and the

Trustee of the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD).

The legacy which he has created, the vision which he had, the

values which he possessed throughout his life, as a member of the

Renata family we will try to inherit those values and will make sure

that the company expands its territory. That’s a PROMISE.

We, the Renata Family express our deepest gratitude to our legend

Leader from the core of our heart.

Dear Sir, YOU will be missed every single second…..

P E O P L E & C O M M U N I C A T I O N

It gives us immense pleasure to introduce Renata Insight which is

our very first bi-yearly Newsletter. This is the first time the Human

Resources Division has taken such an initiative and we are confident

through this newsletter we will be able to promote knowledge

sharing and intra company current affairs among all our employees.

For the very first time employees will have the opportunity to write

about their area of work and expertise and share it with the entire

Organization. The contents of this newsletter can vary from an

employee’s own achievements to the pharmaceutical industry as a

whole. The purpose of this newsletter is not necessarily to promote

any particular idea or event but to promote the people of Renata as

a whole.

Renata is a well known and trusted name in the Pharmaceutical

industry today, but many might wonder as to how this has been

achieved. The answer to this question might warrant complicated

analysis and various interpretations of economic theories and

statistical data, but to simply put it, the credit shall be given to its

people. Thus, the aim of this newsletter, among other things, is to

provide a platform for all our employees to highlight and share their

achievements, experiences, hurdles they have faced and how they

have overcome it etc, and to promote a motivational culture. We

FROM THE DESK OF

HOHR

I was thinking about what to write for

Why not have a try today!

Everyone must be wondering why HR is talking about Pulse, which is a medical term

by which physicians’ measure, the heart rate of a person. In a way the HR

organization also serves as a physician who examines its human capital which is the

main component of that organization, analyses their situation and takes necessary

precaution to create a Win-Win situation for both the employer and employees.

The Renata HRD took a similar step to diagnose the current status of its people

involved. Practically it is not possible to interact with each and every

organization, as per global practice HRD is interacting with 20 to 25% members of each

division/department/depot/field force. In the process HRD is collecting feedback from

them. These interactive sessions are helping HRD to assess the current scenario to

explore the expectation of the people and in a broader perspective HRD is able to grab

the PULSE of Renata. HRD has already conducted a few sessions which includes Mirpur

Site, several Depots and Field Forces. Based on the findings, HR has already taken some

steps and gradually further necessary steps will be undertaken which is logically

beneficial for all concerned. Until then, PULSE checking is ON, stay tuned, we are

coming to YOU!
