Main Aim Of Project: To evaluate solutions to facilitating the implementation of ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility and Security) code.

Objectives of the Project:

To review the important role of ISPS code as a starting point can begin to make the maritime industry safer.

To analyze the requirements for implementation of ISPS code by governments, port authorities and shipping company.

To establish an International framework involving co-operation between contracting governments and government agencies.

Examine to make the ISPS code more user-friendly applied and workable.

What is ISPS code?The International Ship and Port Facility Security code (ISPS code) is a comprehensive set of measures to enhance the security and port facilities, development in response to the perceived threats to ships and port facilities in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in the United States.

What does the Code apply?

It applies to ships engaged on international voyages. It applies to the following types of ships. Passenger ships, including high-speed passenger craft. Cargo ships, including high-speed craft, of 500 gross tonnage and upwards. Mobile offshore trading units. It also applies to port facilities , serving ships engaged on international voyages.5

Matters not covered by the codeThe ISPS code is not panacea does not deal with all the aspects of ships and port security:

security of ships and facilities not covered under the code. the security of the cargo/supply chain.

The advantages of ISPS code in the Maritime Industry. Higher safety and security and lower risk. Better control on ports area, Better documentation (Having unified standard for documents).

Better working environment.7

The disadvantage of ISPS code in the Maritime Industry. Slow work progress. More paper work. More costs. More administration works.
