Another feature is the AM information system which is developed and maintained by the organization to support client’s AM activities. The original model created by the organization is customized and sometimes shared with clients. 3. Through risk specification in the AMS, the staff became more aware of the risk. That enabled the planning & action more risk-preventive manner, while previously they often dealt with the accidents after they actually occurred.

Although internal audit is not so matured, just checking the basic requirements of the AMS, it is considered that systems deterioration is effectively prevented because joint-checking of the systems operating condition by the auditor and the site staff enables risk management evaluation whether risk and opportunity are adequately controlled.

Although the scope of ISO 55001 certification is only Ome city sewage, the management system can be horizontally expanded to other sewage management project proposals, which contributes to win more project order, with the situation in Japan that more sewage asset owners are seeking for PPP or PFI in sewage operation and management.

5. Main outcomes By introducing asset management, attainment of target asset performance, clarification of the documents, knowledge management of the operational know-how were realized. Characteristics of the AM In the guideline JWA prepared in the development of the asset management system (JWA AMS), scope, activities, implementing structure, responsibility assignment, etc. are defined as basic principles. JWA also reconstituted existing activities aligning with ISO 55001 requirements, and summarized in the guideline for the staff’s compliance. JWA AMS places emphasis on continual improvement by implementing PDCA cycle, based on the evaluation of the work progress and achievement that construction and management divisions of the river structures such as dams and river channels made, which are investigated through work progress management, monitoring risk management condition, internal audit, etc.

Main outcomes JWA aims to continuously and stably fulfill the functions of the assets it manages, responding to the stakeholders’ needs and expectations, through managing the assets it owns or operates, such as dams and river channels, in systematic and effective manner, by implementing JWA AMS.
