Islamic perspective of leadership traits areclearly mentioned in the Holy Book, Surah An-Naml (21). It also portrays the function androles of managers:

We gave (in the past) knowledge to Daud andSulaiman: And they both said: "Praise be toGod, Who has favored us above many of hisservants who believe!" (AN-Naml: 15)

And Sulaiman was Daud's heir. He said: "O yepeople! We have been taught the speech ofbirds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) ofall things: this is indeed Grace manifest (fromGod.)" (AN-Naml: 16)

Said one who had knowledge of the Book: "I willbring it to thee within the twinkling of an eye!" Thenwhen (Sulaiman) saw it placed firmly before him, hesaid: "This is by the Grace of my Lord!- to test mewhether I am grateful or ungrateful! and if any isgrateful, truly his gratitude is (a gain) for his ownsoul; but if any is ungrateful, truly my Lord is Free ofall Needs, Supreme in Honor !" (AN-Naml: 40)

He said: "Transform her throne out of allrecognition by her: let us see whether she isguided (to the truth) or is one of those whoreceive no guidance." (AN-Naml: 41)

ا مسلمین ھ ھو وأوتینا العلم من قبلھا وكن كأنا جاءت قیل أھكذا عرشك قالت فلم

So when she arrived, she was asked, "Is this thythrone?" She said, "It was just like this; andknowledge was bestowed on us in advance of this,and we have submitted to God (in Islam)." (An-Naml:42)
