An association of the private sector Biogas Construction Companies (BCCs)

Introduction

- We are non-profit/non governmental organization that represents BCCs. Our aim is work to contribute to the scaling up of the biogas sector in country. - SBP was established in 2010. The members of SBP are BCCs, who have constructed nearly 7,000 biogas plants in the country (5360 under PDBP in 12 districts, and the remaining in other districts). - BCCs provide quality construction services with a warranty and after sales services

Vision : Pakistan has sustainable production and

consumption of energy, especially in the rural areas.Mission : Working with multi-stakeholders to construct

125,000 biogas plants for domestic and agricultural purposes by 2025

Aims & Objects Promote biogas for cooking to saving money,

health and time of household through Quality construction and after sales service backup

Improve rural environment, contribute to stop cutting the trees and discouraging wood

Construct larger biogas plants for power generation, for water lifting and running generators

Work for members’ welfare, capacity building and coordination.

Achievements

SBP members have Installed over 7,000 plants in last six years (both in the PDBP districts and other districts)

Successfully installed larger biogas plants for power generation

Undertook awareness raising of BG farmers for better use of bio slurry (reduce use of chemical fertilizers and increase profits)

More than 50,000 beneficiaries of BG BCCs employees > 1,000

mentored by RSPN’s PDBP with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and with the technical support of SNV. SBP members have visited various regional countries for experience sharing, and have seen the achievements of BCCs in those

Quality Control SBP has a quality control Committee to

ensure quality constructed BG plants. Any BCC not meeting the quality control will

be fined Rs. 5,000 to 20,000, and will be asked to correct the faults.

Persistent faulters will have their membership cancelled

Employment

After sale serviceUnique quality of our program is the

warranty on BG plants (4 years under PDBP) and after sales service.

Post PDBPSBP members have agreed to continue

working the BG sector, and continue to identify households for BG installation at full cost

SBP members have also agreed to give limited period discount of Rs 10-20,000 per BG plant in order to promote more plants
