New Student RegistrationBefore a “New Student” is
registered, you must always do a Last Name Scan and verify that
he/she indeed has not been previously assigned a student ID
number with MDCPS.If you register a student that
already has an ID number as a new student, we now have a student with two ID numbers.

Scheduling Timeline for Elementary
Elementary Scheduling Process
Teacher grade level assignments for next year are determined
Students are “sectioned” into homeroom classes
Teacher Course Assignment Worksheets are filled out, designating class sections for teachers and will be used as a data entry tool to create the master schedule
Enter Teacher Course Assignment information on the Course Record Screen (PF9)
Teachers determine students’ Academic Program (preset group of courses)
Students are “programmed” to receive classes on the Student Course Record screen (PF1)

Elementary Program content has been updated. Each program now reflects specific number of minutes per class and must be reviewed closely when identifying the appropriate academic program for each student
Periods will be assigned to courses on the Course Record Screen (PF9) and may not be consecutive
Co-teacher teams will be identified on PF9 Therapy services (e.g., Speech, OT and PT) will be
entered as a class on the student’s schedule The Course Record screen will be used to
determine the length of time spent in each pull-out course
92
Elementary Scheduling Process Cont’d
Course information will be reported by the individual subject
Elementary FTE will be processed the same as secondary schools (except for PK)
FTE Week (Survey 2) Oct 8-12FTE Week (Survey 3) Feb 11-15
93
FTE Processing
Class Size ComputationThe Course Record screen (PF9) will be used for reporting Class Size for grades K – 5 and elementary 6th
