Determination of Equilibrium Exchange Rate Rupiah against US$and its Volatility: Application of Asset ApproachDennij Mandeij*Lecturer at Faculty of Economics and Business,Sam Ratulangi University, Manado, IndonesiaCorresponding email: [email protected]

The prevailing exchange rate and its volatility has been always an important issue in an open economy and freely float-ing exchange rate system, such as in Indonesia. In this system, the exchange rate is allowed to fluctuate based on theinteraction between demand for and supply of foreign currency in the foreign exchange market. Its fluctuation mayinfluence many economic activities and can be transmitted to the inflation rate. This shows that the prevailing exchangerate and its volatility become a crucial variable that must be taken into account by all economic actors. This paperaims to describe the application of asset approach in determining the equilibrium exchange rate Rupiah against US$and analyze the factors that influence its volatility. The analysis method used is the applied method based on the theoryof uncovered interest parity condition. The result shows that the actual exchange rate is completely different from theequilibrium exchange rate where Rupiah is undervalued towards US$. It reflects that the demand for US$ is greater thanits supply which means that foreign exchange market is not in equilibrium. When all else equal, a decreasing of Rupiahinterest rate, an increasing of US$ interest rate and a rising of expected future exchange rate, respectively, will depreciateRupiah against US$. The changing of these three factors can show and describe clearly its effect on the volatility ofexchange rate.

The Existence of a Notary Public to Support the Ease of DoingBusiness in Order to Face the Industrial Revolution 4.0Anna Yulianti *

Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung IndonesiaCorresponding email: [email protected]

Information technology is changing the world very quickly. One of the things that has changed with information tech-nology is law. Law is a fairly conventional form of science. The law was not supposed to change very quickly anddynamically. The law can change with the times. There are so many parties who do law enforcement or administrationof legal documents. One of them is a notary public. The notary has the authority to make an authentic deed in accor-dance with the mandate of the law. This notary authority changes with the times. Agreements that were only oral orwritten are now electronic. This change is very significant considering in the notarial deed, the parties must face thenotary concerned as proof that the notary public saw and knew the parties who made the agreement. This makes thenotary public official with the authority of a state official and also as a party trusted by the public as an authorized officialso that the act is declared no error. The problem arises with the progress of time, the law made by the government thatled to the industrial revolution 4.0 is an obstacle for the notary because in the electronic agreement there is no moreface-to-face with the parties who made the agreement. The parties become unknown and face the notary. In addition, there are also overlapping regulations regarding the issue of electoralization of legal administration so that the notarymust be responsible for doing his work and can also interfere with ease of doing business.

Social Connection and Self-Perceived Depression Among SchoolAged ChildrenMasood Badri 1*, Muna Al Bahar 2,1,2 UAE UniversityCorresponding email: [email protected]

We examined how family and friend connections of adolescents (15-19 years old) interrelate, and how the interactionsinfluence their self-perceived depression and stress. The data were collected through the Abu Dhabi First Quality ofLife Survey 2018 completed by more than 51,000 respondents, in which 958 out of a total of 3,356 students (28.54%)self-identified themselves as depressed. We developed a structural equation path model to explicate the relationshipsamong the variables hypothesized to affect students self-reported depression. The results produced an excellent fit ofstatistics of the model to the data. In general, social connections and relationship with (family and friends) directly af-fected the school childrens self-perceived depression feelings. More specifically, variables such as often feeling isolatedfrom people, the amount of quality time spent with family, the frequency of meeting with friends, relatives or colleagues, and the involvement in informal activities with friends had the largest total effect on school childrens self-perceived de-pression. The amount of quality time with family exerted some indirect effects on feelings of isolation. Involvement insport groups, involvement in religious and spiritual groups, and generalized trust did not show any direct effect but hadan indirect impact on self-perceived depression. The findings could contribute to the current understanding of theoriesof depression and provide implications for social policy, social service, and social work intervention for school-agedchildren in Abu Dhabi.

Consumers Behavioral Intention toward Mobile App Based On-demand Food Delivery Services in Bangladesh: An EmpiricalStudy on C-TAM-TPB ModelNayeema Ahmed 1* MamtajAkter 2

1,2 Jahangirnagar University, BangladeshCorresponding email: [email protected]

Immense growth of digital technology is redesigning the business. With the enhanced use of technology, the number ofpeople engaging into the digital sector is swiftly swelling. Mobile app based food delivery service is a new wave to thecity people of Bangladesh that has brought about the changes in consumer preferences. As this is quite a new trend, avery few quantitative research currently exists that studies from consumers viewpoint and thus, this study attempts to fillthis gap. This study aims to analyze the constructs of both the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and the Theory ofPlanned Behavior (TPB) model that influence consumers behavioral intention towards app-based food delivery servicesof Bangladesh. The integration of TAM and TPB (C-TAM-TPB) model of Taylor and Todd (1995) has been applied inthis research with an explanatory purpose and deductive approach. Five independent constructs, i.e., Perceived Useful-ness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Attitude (ATT), Subjective Norm (SN) and Perceived Behavioral Control(PBC) have been measured with multiple-item scales and applied to explain the dependent construct, consumers Be-havioral Intention (BI). A Structural Equation Model (SEM) is created based on empirical data from a survey of 204consumers of app-based food delivery services e.g., Foodpanda, HungryNaki, pathao food etc. of Dhaka and Sylhet cityof Bangladesh to test different factors influencing intention. The constructs of C-TAM-TPB model has been tested usingSPSS and AMOS and the result confirms both the validity and reliability. Furthermore, the results recorded statisticallystrong evidence of significant relationship among various constructs and behavioral intention towards app based fooddelivery services. Analysis of the findings provides new insights for future researchers and open up the gateway of theapplication of C-TAM-TPB model on mobile app based services of Bangladesh.

Trading Behaviour Around Information Leakage on Analyst Rec-ommendationsAndrew Lepone1, Ming Ying Lim 2*,Jin Boon Wong3

1,2,3 Macquarie University, Sydney, AustraliaCorresponding email: [email protected]

This paper examines the extent of information leakage (i.e. tipping) on analyst recommendations, the propensity toact on tips received under different circumstances and its profitability using a proprietary data set containing brokerIDs. Results show that irrespective of market conditions, recipients react predominately to tips on downgrade rec-ommendations. Cross-sectional analysis indicates that leaks on smaller and mid-capitalization stocks exhibit higherabnormal trading volume and greater profitability. This study also demonstrates that when negative returns precedethe public release of downgrade reports, recipients are less likely to act. Further analysis using unique Dataexplorerdata provides evidence that recipients act on tips selectively by shorting the stocks. There were no signs of institutionalexodus around analyst releases, suggesting that these investors do not react to short-term price fluctuations

This study investigates the social-responsible investment (SRI) among the retail investors. The linkage between theESG preference, investors characteristics, and their account performance are examined. In addition, the impact of thecompanys ESG rating on their stock performance is tested. We find that female, older, and investors with greater wealth(sophistication) level are more likely to take ESG into investment consideration, while frequent-trading investors andthose who prefer a mental shortcut are less likely to consider ESG attributes. We find a higher ESG score of a companyleads to better stock performance in the subsequent year. The paper reveals that investors with SRI preference do notneed to give up their returns to do the right thing. Investors holding greater weights in the stocks with higher ESG stocksin their portfolios outperform, even after controlling the market- and portfolio-specific factors.
