AT RISK?

Page 2: Is Your School Putting Students at Risk?

15 million Americans fall victim to identity theft

each year.

Your students could be next.

Every day, colleges and universities across the country accept student financial aid

documents through email.

Every one of those emails is a security breach waiting to happen.

It’s only a matter of time before this procedure meets with disaster.

Already, postsecondary schools are being targeted by hackers seeking to divert funds and sensitive student

information, as referenced on the next slide.

“Schools are no strangers to being victim of cyber attacks, and now hackers are targeting their emails to get ahold of payroll information.

According to a public advisory issued by the Research and Education Networking Information Sharing and Analysis Center on Wednesday, universities and colleges have been “targeted by spearphishing campaigns designed to steal user credentials for many years. ‘The stolen credentials are used for many reasons…”

In an interview with The Evollution, Clay Wilson, cybersecurity program director for the American Public

University System, states,

But no matter the intention, the exposure is undeniable. And perilous.

Many schools’ standard operations suggest that students and their parents use email to submit scanned

copies of documents, such as:

• Tax transcripts• Verification worksheet

• Passport• Birth certificate• Driver’s license

• Social security card

Of course, students still have the option of sending information via snail mail.

But in this day and age, a school that can’t meet the ever-increasing technology expectations and needs of

its student population is going to lose enrollments.

CampusLogic has the answer.

We created StudentVerification, an automated, student self-service portal where submitted files are

protected by government-level data encryption.

Through the secure platform of StudentVerification, all activities for the verification process can be

managed, facilitating:

• Student notifications• Document collection

• Data validation• School communication

CampusLogic is taking a stand for students’ identity safety.

According to a public advisory released by the Research and Education Networking Information

Sharing and Analysis Center (REN-ISAC), universities and colleges have been targeted by spearphishing

campaigns designed to steal user credentials for years.

There is no time to waste in securing students’ sensitive information.

The CampusLogic team doesn’t want colleges to face the crippling bad press and loss of trust associated with

the breach of sensitive student information.

18

And most importantly, we don’t want a student’s start in the adult world to be marred by preventable identity

theft. It’s the institution’s responsibility to protect that information.

CampusLogic is here to help.
