    New Internship Site Registration Form

    Te Washington Center follows the Council for Excellence in Standards for Higher Education (http://www.cas.edu/index.php/standards

    guidelines or internship programs. WCs program is structured upon the belie that internship programs should engage interns in

    planned, educationally-related work and learning experiences that integrate knowledge and theory with practical application and skill

    development in a proessional setting.

    Successul internships rely on the equal participation o three important entities: 1) colleges and universities (or entities such as WC

    that represents them) 2) students and 3) internship sites. Te Washington Center and its 500+ college and university partners uphold a

    rigorous screening and selection process o student interns. Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive application packet that

    provides a thorough picture o students knowledge, skills and interest areas.

    WC upholds similar standards in the screening and selection process o internship sites. We seek organization that understand the

    importance o providing substantive experiences, regular eedback and support and guidance to students academic and proessional

    development. Te registration orm is the frst step in the screening process or new internship sites. Te Internship Management eam

    will review your registration orm to assure compliance with its evaluation criteria, and ollow-up with a phone call and/or visit to your

    site to complete the evaluation process.

    2.0 New Internship Site Hosting Conditions

    Te organization agrees to comply with the ollowing as conditions or hosting Washington Center interns:

    Comply with all local, state and ederal labor laws;

    Have a Non-Discrimination and Sexual Harassment policy in place;

    Provide the Intern with a sae work environment;

    Provide the Intern with a schedule comprised o no less than 80% substantive work;

    Ensure that the Intern reports to work or 3236 hours per week, depending on Te Washington Center program enrollment;

    Provide the Intern with inormation regarding the Internship Sites policies and procedures regarding dress code, proessional, legaland ethical behavior, emergency preparedness, etc., and be available to respond to any questions the Intern may have;

    Provide the Intern with an orientation to the oce and the Interns position in addition to training the Intern on the use o oceequipment;

    Provide the Intern with ample instructions or completing projects and all appropriate eedback thereon;

    Provide the Intern with a desk and computer and other necessary tools in order to eectively complete internship responsibilities;

    Review and sign the Interns nal Individual Development Plan (IDP) by the stated due date;

    Participate in a minimum o one site visit in coordination with Te Washington Center to discuss the Interns perormance andconduct additional meetings i requested;

    Work with the Intern to establish and implement a work plan in accordance with the Interns Individual Development Plan (IDP)and that is in alignment with the Agencys mission and needs;

    Allow fexibility to avoid scheduling conficts with mandatory Washington Center events;

    Notiy the Interns Washington Center Program Advisor in a timely and reasonable manner i any problems arise, particularly thosethat might result in the dismissal/termination o the Intern;

    Provide written eedback and assessment o the Interns work, including nal grade, by the stated due dates, through the use o theollowing documents: 1) Interns midterm assessment; 2) Interns nal evaluation.
