Intro

You have a right as a tenant to be treated fairly at all times throughout the duration of your tenancy so, weve wrote this blog to help you notice any unfair behaviour

Every tenant has the right toquiet enjoyment.

This right is where your landlord must let each of their tenants live in their home without unnecessarily interfering.
Unnecessary interfering from a landlord could be them turning up to aproperty where a tenant is living without the tenants permission. It could alsobe interference with maintenance, repairs or cutting off services without the tenants knowledge or consent.

24hr notice

Unless there is an emergency in the property, a landlord must provide the tenant with 24 hours notice prior to arriving at the property.

If youre on holiday, at work or in any other way vacant from the property; the landlord must grant your permission before entering regardless of whether youre there or not.

If your landlord does break an entering into a tenants property without permission; they must have very good reason for it, e.g. if an overflowing bath or burst pipe is causing a major leak into the property below.

Harassment

I f your landlord is in any way harassing you or acting inappropriately e.g. repeatedly ringing you at night or forcing you into signing a dodgy tenancy agreement than youre within your rights to take legal action against them.
Harassment and illegal eviction are criminal offences and your landlord can be prosecuted accordingly.
