DMU is a well respected university with a reputation for producing high-quality, work-ready graduates. Students love studying at DMU and enrich their studies by getting involved in our sports and social clubs and our nationally recognised students’ union.

Our campus is in the heart of Leicester city which helps it maintain strong links with the vibrant local community and national industry leaders. We continue to invest in world-class facilities and use industry-standard equipment in our labs and classrooms.

RESEARCH WITH IMPACTWith more than 50 active research groups across the university, working on more than 400 projects, we’re pushing the boundaries of science and medicine, we have been at the forefront of the 3D gaming and TV revolution and we are helping to save the planet with our pioneering research into carbon emissions and environmental impact.

Nearly half of our research has been rated as world-leading or internationally excellent by the Government’s Research Assessment Exercise* – testament to the dedication of our researchers, staff and students.

RELEVANT TEACHING Our close links with industry-leading employers and professional bodies, combined with our teaching excellence, provide you with a first class learning experience that is relevant to the real world.

WORLD-CHANGINGOur research is having a direct impact on our planet. From our local community to the other side of the globe, our research is improving the environment in which we live. In 2013, a DMU-led project developed a device for remote African communities to monitor and control their previously ‘off-grid’ energy consumption and create their own vital electricity networks.

LIFE-CHANGINGOur researchers are improving lives. Dedicated to innovation, our most recent success was the development of a ground-breaking artificial pancreas, a potentially life-changing medical device for people suffering with diabetes.

INNOVATIVE TEACHINGAt DMU, the learning experience and academic support continues beyond the classroom with the latest in e-learning. From podcasts and wikis to networks and file sharing, around 20 per cent of course content is supported by web technology.

For me, the reason why I chose DMU was because it has lots of workshops and facilities. For example there are lots of different workshops – the plastics workshop, the woodworking workshop – which allow me to make shoes by myself. I can learn lots of different things from my tutors, from technical learning to illustration, I can learn footwear design in great detail. Yoon Yi Lee from South Korea is studying her first year of Footwear Design BA (Hons)

I want to study Mechatronics at DMU as not many universities have this course and many companies are looking for graduates in this area. At the LIPC I like the small classes and being able to have close interaction with the teachers. After graduating, I plan to work at Thiessen’s in Germany for a while and then go back to Thailand and help develop my dad’s company. Pavaris Jotikasthira from Thailand is studying the International First Year, Engineering pathway
