o. FOR E W 0 R D
0.1 This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Institutionon 28 December 1977, after the draft finalized by th~ Nutrition SectionalCommittee had been approved by the Agricultural and Food ProductsDivision Council.
0.2 With greater emphasis on exploitation of protein sources it has beenfelt that sunflower could be utilized as a good source of protein. Thisstandard is inte-nded to help the manufacturers of low fat sunflower seedflour in optimizing their production as well as the users of such flour inutihzjng the right quality of sunflower protem for the manufacture ..;;processed foods, such as baked goods, snacks and sweetmeats.
0.3 In the preparation of this standard, due consideration has been givento the provisions of the Solvent Extracted Oil, De-oiled Meal and EdibleFlour (Control) Order, 1967; the Prevention of Food AdulterationAct, 1954 and the Rules framed thereunder. However, this standard issubject to the restrictions imposed under these, where applicable.
0.4 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of thisstandard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off inaccordance with IS. 2-1960'. The number of significant places retainedin the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specifiedvalue in this standard.
1. SCOPE
1.1 This standard prescribes the requirements and the methods ofsampling and test for edible sunflower seed flour ( solvent extracted).
-Rules for roundmg off numerical values (revls.d).
