0.1 This Indian Standard (Pint Reviaion) was adopted by the IndianStandards Institution on 4 June 1980, after the draft final~ by the Struc­tural Sections Sectional Committee had been approved by the Structuraland Metals Division Council.

0.2 This standard was first published in 1966. In this revision the rangeof rail sizes has been enlarled to include some of the sections commonlyused in the indwtry.

2.1 General requirements relating to lupply of material shall be as laiddown in IS: l:i87·196i·.

3. DESIGNAnON

3.1 Crane rail section, conforming to this standard shall be designated bythe letters IS(:R followed by the bead width of the l°al1 section in millimetres,However, the crane rail sections covered in Appendix .:\ shall be designatedby the weight in kg/me

3.2 For shop marking and drawing office purposes, abbreviated referencesymbol (:R instead of ISCR may be permitted provided specific under­standing exists between the producer, drawing office and fabricator.

4. CHEMICAL COMPOSmON

4.1 The material when analysed in accordance. with the appropriate part ofIS : 228t and its relevant parts, shall have any of the chenucal compositionson the finillled product given in Table 1. The location of sample forchemical analysis shall be as shown in Fig. I.
